Hey folk:

Really heavy rapture activity today....five hawks and a falcon...three of the hawks were redtails and two flew in to perch about 100yds from the girls, then flew off after eyeballing the situation....

We have 6 or 7 HUGE hawks and a few littler ones around. They swoop on a daily basis. My dog will chase them and bark. Very scary.

fisherlady, heres a terrible picture of some of the chicks, have 17 out, with four or five more eggs to go, just remember, i'm not a picture taker, i usually leave it to my husband.
well here they are, and almost forgot, the little oe that was upside down in the egg, hatched with my help and its perfect

Are those eggs from fisher? How did you get so many blondies!!!

no, all my eggs, i think all the blondies are from my buff lace brahma cock and his buff lace hens, or they could be from my blue partridge cock and buff lace hens, none of the blonds are cochins. what cochins i had hatch are mille fleur's. two chicks are old english and so far one chick is out of a green egg hen that i hatched last year, i think i might have a chick out of the blues, blacks and splash's, not sure if i put some in this hatch or in the next hatch

oh :)

okay so I bought

1. garden and poultry dust -----it has permethrin as the active ingredient and all kinds of caution instructions about not letting children or adults come in contact with this dust in a drift.

2. "all natural" poultry protector in a spray bottle.
this one says: non toxic alternative to harsh chemical treatments. helps protect your coop and birds from mites, fleas, and ticks.

active ingredient: potassium sorbate, 1% by weight

other ingredients: water, yeast, citric acid 99.9%

so I am wondering if the all natural spray is 99.9 percent OJ and water??????

dhetzel will know this , I am sure!

Plus I have asthma and have been very sick this week with respiratory something............cold, bronchitis, sinus infection who knows ....maybe strep sore throat..............

I don't like the stuff that has all kinds of warnings re: inhalation risks.....................anyway------------------lets see what you all think about these!

I see what you did there...

Gorgeous!

There needs to be an official Pennsylvania Unite 'dress code' for outings. Something like a red shirt, black baseball cap or something along those lines.

Congratulations! You enablers and poultry pimps are affecting my dreams. In last nights segment of crazy dreams, a cousin sent me six eggs, and when I went to crack them open, three of the had live baby chicks. And I remember thinking how wonderful that was because that's what I wanted anyways.

Well, I kinda do...I have to wear sunglasses outdoors & indoors..eyes are extremely sensitive to light, so if you see some short chick in a pair of sunglasses at 9 pm at night,...inside... chances are it's me

i googled some of my own questions.................and yes the poultry protector is an overpriced version of

salt ( potassium sorbate)
and lemony or citrusy juices and water.....................
a little yeast........in there too.........

I think I can make a lemon water spritz for them the next time!
