Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Hello and welcome to the Pa enablers thread! Just tell us what all do you have, what do you still want and we will help you find everything you never knew you needed!
:gig. Cream legbar? I am coveting one!!! Lol yeah this thread makes me want a bigger coop, a bigger yard, eek!
Absolutely loving this thread :D

puppies and babies...cuteness overload!!! our daffodils should be blooming by the time we get back home:love ..... **Update on the Operation-convert Hubby to bee keeping goodness....I am making headway:yesss: ...he is coming around, he is talking more "bee" than usual..and for him..that means I am "IN"..mmwwwaaahahahahahaha....:clap
Wahooooooooooooo!

the only sevin I could find at the tsc was in larger bottles that were in the garden section and looked more like you would spray it primarily on garden plants..........not animals......

When I read about sevin for poultry lice they refer to a powder...........but I just cant find it.................where do you find yours and what type of sevin is it?

I clean my coop with a vinegar water solution regularly................I wonder if this is enough? I could always soak citrus peels in the liquid.......cant see how that would do any harm.........

Didn't get to the auction:( ...but the ice cream stands I am talking about are the "Lapp" dairy...I think that is the name(good grief, I was just  there and I can't remember:old )..the stand were I get the dip-mix is right beside the "parsley porch' stand...I had also got me some dried parsley from there;) ...We bought-out  the 'dip-mix' stand...I am telling you guys, the veggie dip mix, mixed with some sour cream is to die for!!!:drool ....the older woman who runs the stand gave us her 'source' for bulk !:weee
I really wanted to see more, but we had the whole family with us and had to cut things short...oh well, we will set a better "where are you" spot for next time because I will have your(L.Hawk) lilac then.:hugs

Oh darn it! Sorry you had to leave early LMP. :(
I should take notes on where everybody sits,, I never know anyone when I am there

I always sit right behind the auctioneer. Better view there for me.

That's my pinterest name. I have to go under a secret alias because if kids from school found my pinterest and it was nothing but chickens and stuff, I would never have any friends again

. People would think I was so weird.
one day, it won't even matter what your "friends" think...oh, and being "weird" is an asset!

...I find the most interesting people are "wierd"...

fisherlady, heres a terrible picture of some of the chicks, have 17 out, with four or five more eggs to go, just remember, i'm not a picture taker, i usually leave it to my husband. well here they are, and almost forgot, the little oe that was upside down in the egg, hatched with my help and its perfect
Are those eggs from fisher? How did you get so many blondies!!!
I just hatched out 5 chicks, I thought they would be predominantly blonde or chipmunk, I got nada. Black and blue.

it's the stuff for garden...we have used it on dogs, in their yard areas and now I use it for chickens. Yes, you do have to be mindful of the dust...you don't want to just go flailing it everywhere, but it works when you need something to kick butt. We have gotten it at lowes and kmart and walmart.

Wow, I am gone for 2 days and I had 200+ posts to catch up on....... Welcome to all the new folks! I loved reading about all of you Bee people.... that sounds like something I will consider for future endeavor. I love seeing all the fuzzy butts... very cute babies.

We got the duck house built and set in the run area. Today we butchered and then had a family Easter Egg hunt for the kids....I am spent.....

Wing did you ever get you pigs?

Chippy I love that you are surprising your sister.

Barbie I hope the incubator works out... sounded like a good deal.

The one miraculous thing that has taken place over the last 4 days is that I have not stepped foot in TSC....too afraid of what might be discounted that I wont be able to resist.

okay so I bought

1.  garden and poultry dust -----it has permethrin as the active ingredient and all kinds of caution instructions about not letting children or adults come in contact with this dust in a drift.

2.  "all natural"  poultry protector in a spray bottle.
this one says:  non toxic alternative to harsh chemical treatments. helps protect your coop and birds from mites, fleas, and ticks.

active ingredient:  potassium sorbate, 1% by weight

other ingredients:  water, yeast, citric acid 99.9%

so I am wondering if the all natural spray is 99.9 percent OJ and water??????

dhetzel will know this , I am sure!

Plus I have asthma and have been very sick this week with respiratory something............cold, bronchitis, sinus infection who knows ....maybe strep sore throat..............

I don't like the stuff that has all kinds of warnings re: inhalation risks.....................anyway------------------lets see what you all think about these!

Sounds like you may have seen some parasites on your chooks. I have a suggestion if you're open to it, since you've only got a few birds, wash them. This isn't the most practical solution for people who keep 50 chickens, but it could be practical for you. A starting place anyway. They squawk a bit at first but usually settle down and even fall asleep while being bathed.
