Just Venting : Purchased some blrw eggs, and received them today in a severely damaged box. The seller took all precautions in wrapping with bubble wrap, double box etc but some of the eggs were smashed, crack and the couple that made it I doubt will produce anything. It looks like someone purposely crushed the box. Worst part is unless your a chicken person you cant understand just how upset I am

That is so disappointing. I've had such horrible luck with shipped eggs, but there are some bed that is almost the only way to get them. When I started with Swedish flower hens, I probably had 6 dozen shipped just to get my starter flock of 7. Detached air cells, late delivery, cracks, it just really gets annoying. Went through the dozen turkey eggs last year for 5 poults. I feel your disappointment!

wow those storage crates you listed from craigs list look great! People with the right kind of truck or trailer..........go for it!
Rent a UHaul with a power lift gate. Probably the giver has a hand truck. It would be worth it if you were close enough.
Some of those UHaul trucks are 16 feet deep and quite wide. Wish I was closer !

maybe to avoid smashed carboard boxes shippers could put them inside sturdy plastic boxes then surround that in peanuts or lots of bubble wrap inside a big carboard box. Yes it would probably cost more, but maybe be worth it.

After seeing the sorting equipment and talking to the employees that run that equipment, I am surprised anything makes it,,,,,,no amount of packing will help and all the things that people want on the box, the equipment can not read it, and runs to fast for the employee to even see it....

I worked with a very nice man that was retired from the sorting facility outside of Harrisburg...( he worked part time with us just for something to do). Went to a summer cookout a this house and most folks worked for the postal service, learned a lot about shipping that day...

Really all you can do is pack them eggs and hope for the best.
