DH scared a bear off of the porch of the coop late last night, dogs alerted from in the house and he heard noise and checked... hopefully he scared it enough to not want to come back!
And this morning he found a Tom turkey circling the meaty pen strutting and calling!

The birds are in our covered trailer and it is surrounded by a 7 panel dog kennel set up (so it is mobile) During the night we tuck them into the trailer and in the morning I open the door on the tailgate so they can spend the day under or around the trailer getting some scratching time and exercise.... they coo and chatter (a lot!) so guess they sounded like a tree full of hen turkeys to the poor confused guy!

I went out to my pond and swamp of a backyard and went to check on my chooks. OH NO, ITS raining in the coop!!!!
I absolutely need to build a new one, from scratch, this time with a slanted roof. :(
My poor chicks and hens.
Hopefully the tarp on top will help alittle .

I am finding leaks also, mine are minor so far, spring rains with the wind sure does find things that I didn't see.

Scary guy to scare a bear off..

With that kind of wildlife, you could survive for. Long time with no grocery store,,,what does bear taste like ?

I know they are dangerous to us and the chickens but I like watching the bear's and the fox and most other wildlife,,,,,, which is why I have someone else trapping and very seldom tells me what he gets
 
For the first time all winter long, I can say " I really do not feel good, and just want to go to bed ". Yea, that's not gonna happen...

Wish me luck, I gonna need it for this day..

Just Venting : Purchased some blrw eggs, and received them today in a severely damaged box. The seller took all precautions in wrapping with bubble wrap, double box etc but some of the eggs were smashed, crack and the couple that made it I doubt will produce anything. It looks like someone purposely crushed the box. Worst part is unless your a chicken person you cant understand just how upset I am

. A claim will be filed, but this is the 2nd time I ordered eggs and had problems the first time my package was lost...took almost 3 weeks get it, obviously none of those eggs hatched either....
