Cooking question
Throwing a chuck roast in crockpot before heading out to the farm.
I am assuming low will be good, and should
I just add broth for now and wait till I come home to add the carrots and onions..

Really folks, I can not cook and very seldom use a crockpot, so do not assume that i know what you mean when explaining cooking.

I add it all in the morning. If you don't want it that soft (not mush, but close) wait to add the vegetables until you get home, then give it 30-60 minutes.

Wing: An easy chicken recipe for you.

Stick whole chicken in crockpot over night with almost enough water to cover it. Strip bones of meat. Let bones & skin simmer a while longer to make broth to throw noodles back in later. Shred all chicken.

Use shredded chicken as follows to make several meals:

Chicken & noodles
Add a handful back into broth in crockpot once skin & bones are removed. Add noodles & diced veggies (if desired). Cook until noodles & veggies are tender.
Noodle recipe:
1 cup flour
1 whole egg
Pinch of salt
A few drops of water at a time until rollable dough is made.
Cut into thin strips (pizza cutter works well)
Allow to dry several hours before cooking.

Chicken Quesedillas
Lightly oil hot skillet. Lay flour totrilla flat in skillet. Sprinkle cheese (I like mozz, but any kind will do) over entire tortilla. Add thin layer of chicken to half & fold tortilla over. Lightly toast both dides. Serve with ranch, sour cream &/or salsa.

Creamed Chicken
Shredded chicken
Hot broth (just enough to wet chicken down)
Cornstarch
Add cornstarch to broth & stir until cloudy.
Mix into chicken & heat while stirring until sauce thickens. Serve over potatoes, rice or noodles. (Make a bit runny for these)
Or derve on bread, biscuits or buns for sandwiches. (Make thicker for these)

The Beltsville eggs showed up at the same time as the sister in law from north Carolina so I am thinking they came with her, the buckeye are from eBay..
I hope she handled those turkey eggs better han the PO.

I also got really strange looks from her, is it not normal to get all excited over a dozen eggs.
If she decides to come visit again I would greatly appreciate it if she could show up with another dozen or two, if we could work something out. shipped eggs just aren't working for me.

Hi there from Chester County.  How many chickens do you have in your flock?  I'm up to 3 now.  It's my first year and everything is new to me but I'm loving it.

Chester county here too! I have about 70 birds, this is our first year with turkeys.

Wing, you can make your own butter just whipping cream.

I think I need to get an extra notebook beside the table, titled PA BYC cookbook.
Will need to try some of these, but for today, I am gonna eat everything that I am not allowed for the next 30 days, that 4th of July meal is gonna taste really good.
