If you go with the scented geraniums, be aware there are lots of difference scents, make sure you get a citronella one, it should smell lemony.

How about one of those "bug zappers", hang it over the run and take the bottom off so the flock can enjoy some barbecued bugs! IDK if they are effective for mosquitoes, or just moths, but entertaining nonetheless.

If you want to really do bug control right, build a bat house and see if you can get a colony of bats close by. They are they world's most effective biological control of night flying insects, and they are in decline in many places, so you'd be doing good all around. This is a bit more "long term", of course.

....love the plant and bat ideas!!! we have a good number of them around our place..I think they really like pine trees...and our attic

..hahaha..Have been throwing around the idea of bat boxes too, we have a bunch of pallets to do "things" with....
We have used a bug zapper before, but found that they work more on the moths and such and not so much the mosquitoes...I think they are more co2 attractive...I have seen some co2 machines for sale...they are a bit pricey for me, plants and bats are more my wallet speed

I'm a little suspicious of attractants like CO2. How far away should they be? Too close and you're drawing them to your vicinity, too far and it's not effective.
Plus, CO2 is a greenhouse gas and we have enough of that already.

You know, a pallet might be a good starting place for a bat house . . . someday.

Who is going to the swap at the York TSC, I do not know your Facebook names, so I am confused.

Fisherlady, someone is advertising that they will be taking 10 leghorns that are 16 weeks old.

I'm going and taking the bantam Brahmas.

Oh My! They are beautiful! I'm hoping to tag along with MsLadyHawke on Saturday to the swap. I'd like to pick up some interesting eggs to put under my broody and we may bring some young pairs of Black Copper Marans and Imported Orpingtons along.i hope I can make it.
