Just a reminder.. I still have the trio of blue/splash marans free to a PA BYC person.
I'd really like to free up their pen. Hint. Hint.

Info on soybeans please.
I need to know how to incorporate those into a fermented feed system, I use our own wheat and barley but have not come up with a way to use the beans,,,
I wanted to use field peas but that is a no go, for the amount I would need to feed all year would be unrealistic to do by hand...
I have in the past soaked and boiled soybeans and used them for a high protein snack but would fermentation work long term, how long would they keep...
I am really trying to use less and less of the milled and processed feed that I have to buy..
Before anyone goes off on the hazards of soy, I go the chemical free route as much as possible, soy is not one of them for me...
I'm very interested in this also. I know they must be roasted before feeding to cows, but maybe not for chickens? Could they be sprouted and fed that way?
Boiling seems like too much work to be practical.
I have only boiled off pots of them as treats, so no that way is not practical,,,,,,I am more wondering if they can be used in a ferment, without leeching any harmful chemicals into the ferment..
Getting them roasted would not be cost effective...
Never thought of sprouting them.
I bought 2 laying hens last night and I need to get rid if them ASAP.
They are to skiddish - I like calm birds and don't have the time to work with them right now. My hens don't like them at all.
I was told that they were under a year old and that they are great layers and that the smaller lays blue eggs
One is an Easter Egger and the other is mixed with an Australorp.
They look rough because of mating with a rooster at the place I got them. They are missing feathers.
Super sweet and quiet if you leave them alone.
They just don't fit in here.
Just looking to get out what I paid which was $25 for both. If I can't find them a home they will be free to first person.
I'm in Lancaster/York area.
Spread the word and help me find them a good home please.
Thanks
Auroradream.... a couple of these may work depending on travel?

x2... shouldn't they be quarentined though? They could be spreading illness to your flock.you might give it a few days.....it can often take some time for outsiders to be accepted into a flock....my two cents.....I bought 2 laying hens last night and I need to get rid if them ASAP.
