Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Does anyone have any fertile silkie eggs? I ordered 8 from e-bay. 3 were clears, 2 had bloodlines on day 3. and one of the 3 that were developing got a bloodline today. So I only have 2 that are developing. anyone close to be, or anyone willing to ship. Thanks so much! I checked e-bay but nothing I am seeing at the moment is what I want.

I'm so excited!!!

Today's hall so far for the day.

I can't wait to get my coop built so I can order my chicks! Desperately trying to get some pullets in before winter so I don't have to wait till next September for eggs!

I want green eggs too!

GM all:

Tale of the broodies....girl #1 jumped ship and decided to sit on another egg in another box....so, I added two more....mid morning today I checked and she abandoned box #2 and was back doing the tandem brood....I added the three eggs under her and now the two are sitting on 8 eggs....

And, I am going to was with some field mice....they are in my basement and eating the scratch....I set a bunch of traps with peanut butter and the buggers lick
it off without setting off the trap...geez....

and congrats on the green egg....colored eggs are a hoot....and kids really like them....

I'm sure someone here can get you started almost any time during the year. As a matter of fact, there are those who only need 21 days notice and they can have chicks for you. ;-)

I am hoping that my coop will be good enough for the winter. The farmer's almanac says it will be another bad one

I want a few more hens but willing to wait til spring.

okay you two..then it is all settled...now, where am i sleeping?:pop

My imaginary fort has a large communal building which acts as a living room/ meeting area with large community kitchen for larger meals or food prep/canning... multiple alcoves or side rooms that could double as sleeping areas in case of poor weather or unusual circumstances...

Multiple small cabins in close proximity to the main structure would allow folks some privacy... each big enough for sleeping a few people and a small kitchen area.

So you can bunk in the main structure or pick a cabin!
But I promise you would have a warm spot to stay! :hugs

I like your imagination, where do my old fashioned ways fit in?

@wingstone if you didn't get my pm, it's my weekend off and you know where I am if you don't get enough hands. I know your chopping block is a little high for you, lol. If you need an extra burner and pot to speed it along, just ask.

Might be a little high for you also....you would be better at jumping and swinging the axe then me though....you know I do not have that kind of coordination, I would probly chop everything but the target.

Do we "have" to bring our spouses?

Nope... totally voluntary! LOL

:yesss:

Thanks for the laugh.

MC, keep in mind that every now and then someone would need to be sacrificed to go look for supplies, in the name of safety of course.
