babies all did great with their first night in the big coop

they all followed mama out, no problem this morning though a few of them didn't even try to walk down the ramp. They flew down instead lol. They found all the food dishes I put out and their waterer. I'm very proud of my little fluffy butts

If I had just learned to fly I wouldn't be walking down a ramp either.

from central pa, milton that is, I am raising 25 right now in the house and cant wait to get them in the coop. this is my first attempt, and love it, so fare. all of my birds are 3 weeks old now, I have 10 buff orpingtons, 10 barrad rocks and 5 araucanas AKA easter eggers. and then I had bought 5 sexlinks for the wife, she just had to have some fresh eggs, its funny now she is all proud she can go into the coop and hold them and I swear the one is a dog because I was digging potatoes yesterday and she followed me all over, and bonus for her was, she ate the worms when I was digging potato's got to love them or eat them. lol

I may have oversold my pen's, that is what I get for avoiding paperwork......does anyone close by have quail or duck for sale cheaply, be aware, they would be for meat...

As many of you do at night, I also take a walk around at night. Only it is after midnight for me....well after all these year's I finally came face to face with a predator, and like a baby I ran the other way. It was even cute and cuddly, just very stinky..... I should of known something was up when the cat's did not follow me for my walk.

..i really hope not!! ..next time...take a cue from the cats

the dogs were acting "weird" the other night when i had them out to bathroom....i hope it was only cats being around and nothing bigger...we always have them on leashes, being only pomeranians, i don't think they would put up much fight.

I have two bobs you may have, but they are old. Like a year and a half.

Ran in to a family this summer on the corner of the property. I just leave them alone and keep my distance. Like that they eat the grubs, so don't mind having some around.

The quail, I need in large numbers, most went a dozen at a time.

Had a bad start to my day. Woke up and got my son off to school and then got to my morning rounds with the crew. Went into the basement and had a "flood". We are trying to do some aquaponics in the basement with a tank of koi and goldfish and another tank with talapia (both have some minnows) My hubby's thingamajig he made started to over flow and got the floor soaked. There was even a puddle big enough for my cat to drink from. She loves nasty fish water lol. Made a fire since it was cold and hopefully it dries up the floor nice. The woodstove is in the same room.

Go out to the next round of critters, the ducks, chickens and my 2 remaining guineas. The hose was frozen solid. Lucky for me I had a 5 gallon water container half filled with water. I was able to refill the waterers that needed water.

Finished up taking care of everyone and came in for some hot tea and my last 2 pumpkin eggo waffles. Put them in the toaster and the dogs distracted me and I forgot about the waffles (being sick I am not thinking clearly as normal) Smelt something burning and seen my waffles were charcoal.

This toaster I got over the summer and it refuses to pop up even when set on the lowest setting.

I just went to check on everyone and give everyone some fresh clean water while the hose was unfrozen. I refilled the water container up because it is supposed to be very cold again ( we are supposed to get an inch of snow tonight). I was very surprised and happy to find 8 eggs today! With the shorter days and molting going on that was a huge number of eggs for me!
