Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

I need advice. We want to move in the future, and want to know where is the best place to move that allows livestock and tax wise. Right now where we live, we pay a ton in taxes. We are on 1 acre and have a small house and pay $4000 a year in taxes. (and the heat in the school doesn't work and they don't have money to fix it BS) If you could give me examples like where you are and how much land and how much you pay in taxes it will help us narrow down where we want to go. It's getting too crowded here and we want to raise livestock, like raise a pig or 2 and maybe some cattle.

Speaking of cattle, anyone raise miniature cattle? How loud are they? (Hubby wants to know lol)

We were in the car together for ages driving down to pick up some fresh pork today. Made hubby really want to move so we can do our own.
well..i am the party pooper

...IF you are able to find an area with good paying jobs AND low taxes..then you need to let us all know...

Now, back to reality....you can not have one without the other..haven't seen or heard of it yet.

If you are looking for relatively cheap housing, lots of room to run around, elbow room between neighbors, low taxes....then this area is for you..BUT..if you have to have a great/good paying job..it is not here..you WILL be commuting. If you were to sell your house/property for a profit, you WOULD most likely be able to buy something decent up here out-right. Then you would have a buffer for living...could then maybe change jobs?..
I know people who have an apartment in Harrisburg/Williamsport/Scranton..Mon-Fri they work there, then come home on the weekends to their families...they can do it-it works for them..but, not everyone likes to live that way.

It all comes down to 'what is THE most important to YOU'....make a list, then..making a decision on WHERE the best place is will be a lot easier.

Where we are living, the majority is on fixed income...SSI..welfare of some kind 99%..lots of retired, small business owners(entrepreneurs)..city placements for housing,..camps.

There are some who are fortunate to have some education and have a job at the Hospitals & Colleges & Prison..there is one right here(hospital) and one in Lock Haven..also have Penn State..people commute for those and over in Williamsport-Scranton-Harrisburg..the usual small town stores here, a little more to choose from in Lock Haven (half hour away)...

Taxes are low here, this is a depressed area..not as in the need Zoloft...but, not that much job-economy-wise.

It IS beautiful here..the people are great..small town stuff..no one really bothers you or has too much to say about what you have going on...which means you can pretty much do whatever you want. In our township, we don't even have a "code enforcement officer"...so..what does THAT tell ya?! As long as you can keep it in your yard, you are pretty much good-to-go!
Good Luck on your new placement hunting...JMHO, but lists are my best friends..helps to consolidate thoughts/wants/needs...it helps to put it all into perspective.

I think I just broke some kind of record!!
Dh pointed out a buffalo. In under an hour, I got him to agree to raising buffalo!!
Yes, I know their needs (minimum 10 to a herd, and 15acres a head) but he agreed, and that is the victory!!
