Our first group of chicks to reestablish our flocks are due to hatch on Monday. I locked down this morning, 5 are developed. I just love BLRW chicks, they are especially adorable in my mind.
it is great to hear that 're-establishment' is already in progress... looking forward to seeing pics!!

I am so glad Bella is on the road to recovery!! Hoping she is back to her normal self soon.

I had to look them up on the internet, they are gorgeous!
oh yeah..I love them!! I have 7 birds right now & 4 of them are wyandottes..2 are the blue laced & 2 are black laced..the BLRW come in or should I say "lay" 3 different varieties..blue, black & splash...the blues are my favorite...Wyandottes take a very long time to mature..in the chicken world...and they like time-off from egg laying ...cough..like mine..cough, they are a dual purpose bird, so when the egg laying slows down, then the pot gets full....

There are so many wonderful types of birds out there...and then you have the mixes, which make some very interesting and beautiful birds as well...
I am so excited about getting a rooster this spring...we have a much large coop now, so time ti fill it!! hahahaha..
.I also have to come up with alternative food sources for my birds as the wallet is extremely tight for "commercial" feed...so i have to extend our normal garden to also include items for the chickens over the winter months..more work, but lots of fun..

you are a ways away from central PA, but..if you don't mind the drive...**PeakyBeaky is a wonderful Wyandotte breeder..she has some of the nicest around..her stock comes from some of the top breeders in the US....she has a website...give a look if you are interested. I have purchased my wyandottes from her...I will most likely be getting my rooster from her also....
