Making some rough decisions to depopulate..
We all eventually settle into a breed that we want to work with, and I will be going with all Rocks, I figure I have a good start with the whites and the barred, will add other colors as I go that way I still have the color variety and still have the brown eggs that the customer demands..
If I have breeds that you would be interested in let me know I would prefer to part with some as a small flck instead of single birds.
Will be doing the same with the ducks, downsizing to just Muscovy breed, will be getting away from the french white and going with some color in that pen, east indie's will not be staying, if anyone wants to work with them let me know, I only have 1 little girl to offer but you could choose a boy or 2 to go with her.

Time to have direction instead of a mixed flock.

Pics :)

Well I had to make a quick decision because my orpington roosters started fighting. So I hauled 8 extra roosters to the Amish before they killed my hens.

I will have eggs and chicks for sale in spring.

Fisherlady, I need a walk thru on saving the skin and feathers from a few of those roosters, hubby wants to save some for his buddy's at the VFW. I am clueless on the procedure.

Any interest in the Dominique boys before I clean out pen's.. I do have a small hen I could send along. Gonna be hard to process those boy's.
White bresse available also, gotta admit that I am not impressed with this breed..
East indie duck reversed trio available..

We finally got all the holes in the pens closed up and zip tied back together. I just hope we don't get a huge heavy snow storm soon. lol I don't want to have to go through that again. We moved our muscovies to a much bigger pen. We are working on making nesting boxes for them. Are they like chickens and will all use one box or are they territorial and each need their own box? My silkie pullets just started to lay!!!! I am so happy the little blue silkie I picked up this summer is a girl.

I use old tires for nest boxes in with the ducks, most seem to use them.... I also have an old plastic playhouse in there and one of them uses that

I was hoping to buy some BEI eggs from you in the spring, so I could work the ducklings when hatched and make them really tame, otherwise they are so skittish. My cousin has some calls, so maybe I can hatch those eggs instead. I really like the BEI color though.

What happened with your Hemadoras? Are they over-rated too?

Hedemora and bantam Cochin are housed seperate. This is only affecting the meat and egg sections....I need to concentrate on business and what the customer wants..
I will still have the side section and I am curious what would happen with a cross of those 2..the hedemora are not much bigger..

As far as the ducks... would the word free help you to get interested..
