Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

I understand they need to eat.... but they don't need to try shopping at the farm pens... let them get the free ranging wild stuff in the fields!
they usually do not bother with my pens, they have enough with the pigeon population, for some reason they have developed a taste for chicken the past couple of weeks......

My thoughts exactly. The hawks can leave my chickens alone. There are squirrels and zillions of Canadian geese and wild ducks sitting on the river less than a half mile from our house.
 
I got my answer if my broody hen is done just now. She laid an egg!

Yep, that is pretty definitive.... looks like the little ones are going to have to put on their big bird pants and go it alone!
 
yeah like all the voles diggin in my yard, MG...looks like egypt with tini pyrimids all over the place

They can be absolutely horrible!! Thankfully between my cats, dogs and the chickens they have been pretty uncommon the last few years! Though our best 'mouser' hen died late this fall, so time will tell if any others step up to take her place.
