Hubby just got home. They have Peking ducklings right now for $2 each.
Sam and Pete are sweethearts. Dean is 6 foot tall slightly round in the midsection.

You just described most of the men I know.

@Wing: sorry to hear you lost that OE boy, I know how much you liked him. Can't believe you hung onto him this long...

@Silkies: I appreciate that recipe. I wonder if I could find someone around here to miss it up for me...

So I washed two of my girls butts' today because I saw there was some nasty poo stacking up back there. Then I find my one girl has lice. Yick

Are there any natural treatments? I think I may try tea tree oil diluted in olive oil. And maybe some DE in the coops. I'll have to check the rest of the girls tomorrow to see if any of them have a build up. Only my one hen had them today after inspection. I wonder if it had something to do with such a long stinky winter and nowhere to dust bathe much.
The mites really don't like the tea tree oil. When we had them, we had a tiny bit of tea tree oil and put it in with water and in a spray bottle. They were crawling on our arms and we sprayed our arm and they died. Used it to spray all the nooks and crannies in our coop. The chickens didn't like the smell of the tea tree oil.

Good luck on getting rid of the lice. I don't know if lice will die with the tea tree oil.

Dog is priceless mutt from a rescue, just not sure who rescued who.
Doubt she would help with an intruder, she's never met a hand she didn't think should pet her.

Only had one batch of turkey, Bourbon Red. Plan was to hatch some, keep some for breeding, eat extra. Unfortunately they were all toms, so all went for meat. They were good, not huge.
Have some blue slate in the incubator now. Haven't candled yet, so not sure how it is going.

I have one of those types of rescues too! :D

If you need someone to split a batch with, I could take 100 lbs. or so. I think it's a great idea.

I will try it just for kicks. She's gone who knows how long with them on her, poor thing. A few extra days won't matter. They are all laying and acting happy. If I don't see significant improvement in a few days, I will take Silkies advice.

RC:

I have had both give me a hard time...the racoon hasn't been back, but the fox returned alot....if you found the den that's 1/2 the battle......

Message for the locals around me,
Today and Friday will be processing day for roosters and older rabbits... nothing fancy, all skinned quickly and bagged for canning over the weekend.

If you have anything that you need done, get it over here and I can add it..
