I have a hen who keeps mounting the other hens, I call her Lizzy- any ideas how to stop the behavior? She is pretty hard on the smaller hens.
she is showing her dominance in the pecking order.... it is an extreme method, but that is it's intent. If I felt it was a problem in my flock I would separate her for a couple of days, by removing her it will allow the other hens to settle and when she comes back she will have lost her position in the pecking order and may be less likely to try that same tactic. If she continues outright aggressive behaviors which cause problems for the flock in general then it may be time to cull her. You have to balance the needs of the many...

Have not cooked it in any way the last couple of times...just been by hand breaking what I can and run thru grinder.all is fed raw
My grinder isn't heavy duty enough to do well with raw bones.... but I would like to find the next size up from the company, eventually will find one at an auction or yardsale....

Side benefit for us is the broth... I can it and use it for numerous other recipes and it runs circles around store bought (especially for salt content, since I don't like to use much salt)

I've never had to provide my npip number on eggs or even on live bird shipments. They don't even ask what's in the egg boxes, so definitely don't need numbers there.
Never had to fill out a form & been shipping eggs & birds both for years.
Me & USPS are about to have words over my lost eggs. Think I'll open that box IN the post office IF it ever finally arrives....GRRRRRRRRR!!!!
I would love to have him. Would you be willing to try to ship him if we can find a box? It would be cheaper than the drive for me to pay shipping.
They don't even ask what's in the box, so no npip needed to ship eggs.
I boil down to get the broth, but don't have a grinder so the scraps just go straight to the cats & birds after.

After reading back through the thread,,,,maybe I was thinking about shipping chicks not eggs...duh!!!

Silkie. do you hatch eggs after a Wazine treatment? I have a bunch I collected on days 10, 11 and 12 after treatment and wondered how they would be for hatching.

I don't use wazine. I use ivermectin. I don't even toss eggs after treatment since ivermectin is safe for people. It's the same wormer they use to treat worms in people. And I also keep hatching as well. Never any issues.

I have recently aquired 5 little red sex link chicks i beleive 2 female and 3 male which i will be moving outside soon hopefully only place i know you can get sunburn and frostbite in the same week!!

What is store bought broth,.....oh, you mean that colored water they sell...
My grinder is not heavy duty, old fashioned screw to the table and crank type...I do however run most things thru it twice.. and I have an endless supple of parts, those things go or pennies at auction around here, nobody wants o do the work anymore.
