Yeah, I was so excited to let the chickens out this evening. Then the clouds rolled in... Poor chickens.
Pics please?
My best advice would be to bring her into a 'hospital' cage or private brooder area... having her there for a couple of days will give you time to offer her special treats like scrambled eggs, hulled sunflower seeds and plain yogurt (or any other favorites of your choice) with quiet time you can better observe her behavior for subtle signs of trouble and you will be able to watch her poo for problems... this will also give you the chance to give her medication without concerns about other flock members if you decide to use medicine but it will give her quiet time to conserve her energy if she is fighting off a bug.Hey guys, I need a little advice. My Maple has basically stopped eating. She's the one that's always pigging out and the one that actually got stuck under the food dish the one evening. I noticed the day before yesterday that she didn't have her usual bulging crop and it felt empty. She's not acting much different than usual. A little slow to get up in the mornings and hanging out on the roost in the run a lot (though that could be because of the young rooster that's always trying to mate her). She will go after scratch though. Her crop has felt pretty much empty for the past two days though she did eat some scratch yesterday and I could feel it in there. I don't know if that's the same scratch I could feel in there today or not. She hasn't laid an egg in a few weeks but she was/is molting. I think she's almost done though. I also just did a 5 day treatment to the flock for cocci using Sulfadimethoxine (that's all my TSC had) since one of my 10 week old ameraucanas was pooping blood. I did 1 tsp/gallon of water. The one typing one that didn't look good is back to normal and looking great now but I'm not sure what is going on with Maple. Should I just watch and see? Could she have Cocci and the meds didn't help her? Could she just not be feeling great from the meds? She's still roosting no problem and was out sunbathing and everything today.
