I'm lucky that I haven't had chickens for a while. The run isn't all torn up, so it's draining well. Very little mud.
Aurora, I'd give her a warm bath. I lost one hen to egg bound. I've given lots of warm baths since. They like it, and fall asleep. It can't hurt!

I like the warm bath idea....it is amazing how much they enjoy them.

Chickens???? Liking baths?!? Where did you find such mythical creatures?

Mine flail, squawk, scratch, bite, fly, slap me in the face with their wings, and pretty much seize in water. I don't know why... never had chicken that enjoyed a bath.

LOL, Chippy! (A sudden feeling of sorrow just came over me. I'm sorry again about Chippy) Maybe it takes the chicken not feeling well. I remember Midnight being stressed for about ten seconds. Then she just relaxed and closed her eyes. I even walked down the hall for a towel. She never moved. The others were about the same.
18, you have me thinking about goats now. I wanted goats in the first place (not chickens, They were BIRDS! Gross, disgusting birds!!) so it doesn't take much. Hmmm... Five or six goats to start with...

Winc, If you are seeing incubators marked down, I would say this is the time to get one! Or two. Or three... Makes some sense. Spring is when most (normal people, not anyone on here) people want chicks. Now is when they are winding down.

Thank you :hugs ... I miss her so much, she was my buddy. :(

That's a really good point about the not feeling good. The only time mine need baths is when my bantam cochins get poop stuck to their bums from all the feathers they have back there. A few weeks ago I noticed my rooster looking like he was trying to push out an egg... I picked him up (he didn't even try to get away, which was a red flag) and I checked out his bum. It was completely blocked with poop! I was so surprised and felt so bad. He fought so hard trying to get out of the laundry tub, but I eventually got all of the poop off. He thought he looked handsome after his bath, trying to get with all the ladies

OMG! That is what I though to begin with as well. "I am just going to get 2 Nigerian dwarfs" and then I went to a farm to look at some and they had call ducks so they I just HAD to get some of them and then after coming on byc with my call ducks it's just grown from there! And now I'm trying to get what I first wanted tried to get. GOATS!!!!
