Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

I pulled all my Rose de Berne tomatoes. Have the 3rd batch of pizza sauce in the crockpot reducing now. Easy recipe, no real tending of it needed like if it was on the stovetop. First batch I froze in zip lock baggies but I canned the second and will can this one also. Then the 2 crockpot will be put back on for applesauce. I also have some Roma style volunteer left and some grape tomatoes also. Didn't know I was getting those this year so I hadn't given them a proper spot. But I am saving the seeds for next year. My broccoli never did anything but get big and ugly. My rhubarb died as soon as I planted it. Hot peppers produced like crazy. Bell peppers were duds. Brussels sprouts are doing good. Interesting how different plants have different results.

Hi,
Tractor Supply on Route 30 in Latrobe, Pennsylvania just started carrying Naturewise Feather Fixer!!!
It is on sale for 15.00 a 40 lb. bag , reg. 15.99 a bag. I sure hope they continue to carry it. I need to finish the feed I have before I can switch over to it. Have been discussing it with other BYCer's who are using it with great success!

Subscribe to Nutrena's "Scoop From The Coop" blog online and every once and a while they email you a 2.00 Naturewise coupon.
Best,

Next closest place I know of that carries it is Rural King in Connellsville, PA.

@dheltzel . Do all the bantam Cochin have feathered feet? I have 3 brown/tan chicks that have no feathers on their feet. I only had two Rhodebar eggs, and only one hatched. I think I may have gotten a Blue Maran too, I only have one large back chick, but two Marans eggs hatched.

Yes, all the cochins will have feathered feet, noticeably more than the Marans (who have a few feathers down their legs). I don't recall what eggs I gave you, any of these have white spots on their heads?

Haha! They move too fast for me to tell who has a white spot, and they are getting their "teenage" feathers in now anyways. I'll have to post some pics. The cute little runt got nabbed the other night when I wasn't here to put them away right at dusk (all the other chicks had figured out how to follow mom into the coop). I know you gave me 2 Rhodebar eggs (one did not hatch), 2 Marans eggs, and I believe the rest were Banatam Cochin. They are all so beautiful though, since I have such a variety of color. Maybe I can keep just one... ;)

Here is the parrot we adopting/rescuing. Her name is Lucy and she is a 22 year old Eclectus. We pick her up Friday! :love

Edited to add: that's my DH, and you can't see it, but he has a huge smile on his face.

Gorgeous bird! And the smiles shows...

GM all:

A followup on the windows 10 thing.....(this may also happen if you update older versions of windows) there is this process named safedisc...(used to stop pirating software), it's been disabled in windows 10 and will affect any applications you run that need you to put the CD in the drive to run the app....
Interesting, thanks, I installed it and havent had any issues... yet

We are lucky, I have a friend who puts in a garden about twice the size he should and we benefit from it twice. I give him a trailer load of manure and hay from the meat birds in her spring and we get squash, cukes, peppers and tomatoes in late summer. We just canned a 5 gallon bucket of tomatoes he gave us last week, ended up with 10 qts of stewed tomatoes to use. I really like that arrangement!
very lucky! what a great deal!

i had planned on canning tomatoes today but instead planted some lettuce n spinach and did some major cleaning up of down branches in the goat pen. It took me 2 1/2 hours to do chores on Thursday with no extra cleaning tasks. One hour was spent grazing goats, but 1 1/2 hours for chickens? This has to be cut down. I like the idea of everyone free ranging together with just 2 large feeders and 2 large waterers offered, I'm not hatching right now so am not worried about cross breeding... Anyone have solutions on cutting chore time down?

beautiful pics and kids! flock looks good and healthy! and you have kids dont you? muwahhahahhaa

Here are two quick pics I snapped. Sorry for the poor lighting, I just grabbed them from under Mama. I believe the other brown chick (the third one, not shown in these pics) is a female Rhodebar. It doesn't matter what breed these are, I'm just curious. :D. Thanks for your help!

This bird is absolutely beautiful! How do you adopt a parrot? I'd love to do that :)

Just put my last load of carrots in the canner for tonight. That'll make 28 quarts today. I still have a bunch sliced and in the sink in water. Think they'll be ok in that overnight? I still have 1 more case of them to wash, slice, and can tomorrow. I'm guessing at least another 25 quarts worth
