I'M NOT READY FOR THIS YET.....MAKE IT STOP.....snowed yesterday and frosted last night....thermometer on the back porch said it was about 29 degrees this morning.

we went to town Saturday evening for electrical supplies, groceries and dinner, it had been snowing off and on all day at our place and in town there ended up being over an inch of snow laying everywhere before we came home.
It snowed off and on all day Sunday at our place again but not much stuck. A few showers of the frozen balls at our place also....was funny watching the young chicks running around pecking at them as if they were scratch and then stopping with a 'what the heck??' look on their faces when they realized it wasn't!

Hey Fisher:

Its too early for Stripers......they are still up in New England.....
Not quite That far east yet, LOL....should be fishing in the Chesapeake Bay some time in late November though, I hope.
I want to head to Harrisburg area to get some birds over to wing and another board member before it gets much later into the cold weather...

I know this is not the right place to post for sale, but my posting on the for sale will require a pick up as I will not ship. So that's why I am giving you all a heads up. This will involve some Beltsville Whites. I am hoping to sell them to a possible breeder.
If interested please read my for sale ad. Or you can PM me.
Thanks
Dennis

Yay! The gentleman that wanted some chicks took them all, including the 5 bantam Cochin Roos! He told me "I can't guarantee they won't get eaten if they become annoying." Haha! No problem with that, I just don't have that option in suburbia here.

Now my backyard is so quiet!

Congrats on the sale...now you'll have plenty of space for your next broody hatch! LOL

Well had a great feeling this morning. Momma Muscovy had 17 ducklings, one didn't make it. Now am the proud "grandma" of 16 fuzzy butt ducklings. All summer 4 girls hatched out a total of 4 ducklings, only have 3 now , one didn't make it.

Come in feeling all warm and fuzzy and get a call from my hubby. He got a call from the school. East High School Rumors: Monday morning, Administration received information of postings on social media of possible concern. The Administration and Law Enforcement reviewed the social media posts, interviewed students and contacted parents regarding this matter. No specific evidence of a threat to the school was uncovered. Administration continues to monitor the situation and provide a physical presence of Administrators, Law Enforcement and Security Personnel. (Posted at 1:07 p.m.)

Seems some kids were making threats to shoot up the school today at lunch. They have the kids in custody now. Scary

Did it get the test postponed like they wanted? When I was in school, it was bomb threats called in to get out of a test, now it's guns, which is a bit more plausible than the bombs were.

Congrats on the ducklings! I hope they make it through the winter. I have 2 turkey hens sitting tight on 17 eggs. I never let a broody turkey try to hatch eggs before, not sure how this is going to turn out.

At least the incubator is close to getting turned off for the year. The last few eggs are due to hatch Saturday. Anyone local wanting chicks in 2015, this is your last chance !!
(Legbars and Welsummers, of course).

I remember there were lots of bomb threats right after Sept. 11, 2001. It was a horrible time. That was my first month in the USA. It made me think this was not a safe country to live.

14 years later, I have to admit that I was wrong.

How can the baby chicks survive the winter? Do you just keep them under heating lamp all winter long? I'm afraid of fire hazard. I have a heating lamp and a Thermo-Peep Heated Pad, but don't feel safe to put either of them in coop. In the spring, I may try only use the Heated Pad (it stays 104F indoor) for the chicks first. It looks at least safer than the heating lamp.
