Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

I'm not sure how far you are from me, but I have an extra one that you could borrow. I had planned to use it for a hatcher but could live without it for a couple weeks. It's actualy brand new, never used. The old one that I had for sale was just sold or I'd have offered it to you

Whats the closest town to you?

Are you going to incubate them? I want some of those chicks. If only I had the room in the spring...

My next door neighbor's little boy thinks my yard is a zoo. He has on multiple occasions rang my doorbell to so if he and a friend can come to the backyard to see the chickens. He loves to feed them and always tells me he wants one. Haha. I'm sure his parents would love that! I think I will let him name the next one I get.

I'm in the waiting line for the chicks with you. Our coop should be done soon. Our pick-up truck is broken, so we need to fix it before getting the materials for the roof.

My son always loves to play with my neighbor's chickens. That's why we are building the coop now.

Today I found the first 2 Bielefelder eggs!

I'm pretty sure it is just one hen laying and I missed the first one until today.

I ordered parts for the new incubator yesterday, and spent a while today rebuilding shelves in the chick room to hold the incubators and brooders.

Congratulations! I cannot wait to get some chicks!

Of course they are going into the incubator - I "have" to test their fertility, after all (don't I?). Next time you have a broody hen, I *might* have a few extra BF eggs that need hatching. I have to warn you that the males are quite handsome, you might not be able to let them go to other homes . . .

You need to get an incubator to loan to him and let him hatch some chicks. I'm sure his parents would be onboard if you present it as a learning experience. I'm also sure you'd have the discipline to not use the incubator to increase your flock (too much).

No hatching here. Incubator has been off for months and I work every day from now to Christmas and then every day until new years, all but five days are 12 hours. Just finding time to care for my animals in there is tough.
I can't imagine putting in that many hours and still having primary responsibility for caring for the animals. You have good lighting in your pens to let you tend them after dark?

I ordered a hat with a built-in LED light since it gets dark so early now. Great Christmas gift idea if any of you are looking for ideas.
