Sally thank you... but that was not necessary!
2 weeks away, and no one misses me. I am so unloved here.
Patrick, I have a bar fridge in my coop. I tell people I keep fresh eggs in there. I don't tell them about the beer. Lots and lots of beer! The rum is kept in the house. The chickens like it when mommy drinks. I give lots of extra attention, and treats!
I love the tire idea. I may use it in the spring.
Welcome to all the new members.
I am very tempted by the people thinning their flocks. I have noticed some sneezing in my flock. No other symptoms, and not often, but I don't think I will be getting any new birds until I am 100% what is going on. Or I finally fix up a second coop.
I have been spending a lot of time with Red, the cockerel with attitude. I think he is blind in his right eye. I don't see any damage, but it is not just me he is body slamming. He is doing it to the hens too. That would explain why he is not mating with them.
Well, hello to everyone. I am glad to be back.
My seramas are very docile, very quiet. And after having them in the house for about a week, not much smell or mess. So only changing theirnlitter once or twice a week seems like it should be efficient. In that crate, the feeder and waterer are chick sized, thats a scale for their size (I got a cage coming designed for a large parrot, cant wait until it comes). As far as the roo is concerned, his crow is soooooo cute. It sounds like and is no louder than a dog squeek toy! ahhh, how cute!!!
And welcome to alll, what a fun way to spend our time, chatting about chicken of course!
Oh NO! its just been chaotic! and such a bore w/o u!

Mine had sneezes too! I finally used the sulmet in water and they stopped and no more horseness...

i am glad to see you back.. its not that no one missed you its just with all the new additions itis hard to keep up with comings and goings !!! WB !!!
you are lucky you have quiet ones lol my girl talks a lot and can chicken cuss and gives a mean stink eye when she does not get what she wants !!! I must admit she is a bit spoiled lol
I love them! A guy at work asked why chickens in the house and I told him why not? They get an average size of a dove or cockatiel and people keep them in the house. They are cheap to feed and they are sooo quiet compared to parrots . . . and so much cheaper.
Go to www.americanserama.com to see some breeders. That Jerry Sch. . . .however its spelled, is the same one that is distrubuting that chickens color book and that research drove me to get my first seramas. There is also an american serama thread here. Some have beautiful little birdies and I love to see them laying and being snuggled in peoples beds!
