I'd only met broad breasted turkeys before and I thought I hated them. Then I met my friend's Standard Bronze and immediately had to get some. It's good I got these two as a breeding pair because I could never eat them.

Know what I said about two weeks before I got them, @AnneInTheBurbs? "I will never keep turkeys." Famous last words!

As long as you specified that you would have X chickens, I can't see how a turkey would count against that total. Everyone knows they are 2 entirely different species.

Let me know if that logic works -- if it does, we can try a peacock later :lau

I never said never! :p. Just not at this location. I don't know if I told you guys, but we put up one of those pole sheds (garage?) to house my husbands Corvette this fall. My neighbor later told me, when his wife saw it being assembled, she said she thought it must be for the chicks I was raising.... He laughed.. You know your a chicken person when you get a reputation!

Hey guys, anyone need a duck? I have a gorgeous grey call drake that needs to find a new home. He's the bottom of the pecking order, and one of my duck hens just died, throwing off my ratios and it means I have too many drakes. Therefore, Linny has resorted to mating with the bantam chickens I have, and is really hurting them. He ripped the comb off of my sweet little serama, and she lost a lot of blood. I said that was it, so now he's for sale.

He needs to be kept with ducks only, but I'd hesitate to let him live with larger drakes.

I'm asking $5 (this is the BYC friend discount price).

Hush!n  I can't do that yet, I seriously am at full capacity with 8 chooks. I would love to, but I don't want to push my luck. I already have double the amount of hens I told my neighbor's I was going to have. I will enjoy them while they are here though....
