Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

I appreciate your help. I don't think I need the stranger chicken though. I had no problem eating the two turkeys I raised. I'm doing this knowing I'll eat them. It's why I said "Kenny for now" he won't be named for real. If he's the only one, he will live. Otherwise, I'm glad I have three plus dozen canning jars.

That's great, some folks have no problem with the thoughts of processing, but just have trouble with having 'known' their food....to some folks it doesn't matter. Many start out one way and adjust as they go. The offer to help stands, I'll just leave the jars at home.

That's me. I have no problem eating "stranger chicken", but there is no way I can turn one of mine to dinner.

There will not be a roo sneaking into my flock, or I'll have a really hard time to find him a good home.

Thanks. But I know there's always a chance of accident. At least most your chickens are fancy breeds, so hopefully even the boy can find a good home.
A slim chance, but you are right on both counts. Since I can pick from all of the chicks that hatch I can avoid any the look the least bit ambiguous. One nice thing is that all your breeds are barred, meaning an males will show at least twice as much white as the females. In a group like you will have, they will stick out quite plaining even at a week old. And males grow into very handsome, and as you noted, rare and desirable, specimens.

Your starting to sounds like Dheltzel. Glad you have a market out there!

Starting to feel like it too! I just met up with a guy who was buying poults off me and asked it I do chicks too. I explained that they're not separated or anything but I can hatch some mixes for him. He wants about 20! Looks like I'll be really loading the bator tomorrow. I'll be setting at least 36 chicken eggs and close to 45 turkey eggs lol

I need to put up a sign in my TSC. I would like to hatch again, but certainly won't if I can't get rid of the chicks.

I need to make one up for poults for at our tractor supply. I don't have a big enough list of people to cover the number of eggs I have going. I really need to get busy and pick a couple to keep for ourselves to raise out for the holidays. I'm only incubating chicks by request right now until my breeding pens are built. Next year though....let's just say that hubby promised to make me a bigger, 3 tiered brooder for in the garage ;)

If you made the pens now, you'd make enough selling chicks to more than pay for the materials.

I'm sure, but I'm as broke as I can get at the moment lol. Had to get oil and propane at the same time last pay and my windshield on my car got cracked :/ it'll be a while till I can get the materials to do it.
