Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

No chicks yet.
Because of the six minimum, I'm hoping they have Pekin ducks when I go. I would rather get six Pekin and process the drakes. I'm afraid I'd be tempted to keep a drake of another breed. :-D

They had pekin at ours last year. I bought the 36 they had left the day they dropped the price to $2. Didn't keep them, took them to wingstone. I think those were some of the ones she lost in a predator attack.

Stopped at our TS last night, chick area all set up, but empty :( boohoo! Going back tonight!! Trying to convince the other (not so spontaneous) half that we really need a few ducklings to start before our chicks come in April

So far two have hatched, two to go. The box she is in is too high for new chicks to get out of, should I move them today or wait until the morning? I tried moving her into the coup I have set up for her but she refused to stay, just kept walking back and forth and would not sit back on the eggs until I moved her back to her box of choice. I did put in a little feed and water in her nesting box, she was thirsty and drank. How soon after hatching to the peeps need to eat and drink?

Peeps are fine for 2-3 days. Our hens usually move quite easily once they have hatched, so when everyone is out you can move her anytime.
