Got to see the amazing young woman who started this Thread ~ Leblackbird ~ on Tuesday at our 4-H Meeting.  Such a great surprise.  :weee

AND one of our kids brought in EMU eggs to give a presentation on and then she was selling them!!  I know quite a few of the parents in the back were nervous about going home with EMU eggs, but my son had no cash with him (Thank Goodness!) or there would be EMU eggs in my incubator.

Awe you're too sweet! Was so nice seeing you after so long!
Oh my gosh, those emu eggs were beautiful, I've never seen them in person. No way I'm working with Emus though, absolutely no room! Her speech was so interesting though, she had me very tempted for a while there

Hello from NEPA.

..Love all the pics of every ones flocks. I currently have 4 buff Orpingtons whom I adore. My family and I were looking to expand our flock. We would like to add silkies and Easter eggers. Would anyone know where I can purchase either of these in my area. I do not wish to order via catalog as many have a minimum of 10 per order. I am hoping to purchase 2 pullets or each. Thank you in advance for your assistance.
Welcome!
I'm not sure of your plans with the silkies, but in my experience they should have a separate pen, one that is very weatherproof since getting wet is much harder on them than a regular chicken. Also, silkies are not generally available as sexed chicks, so you are very likely to get a roo (or 2).

IDK if you ever get down to the Philly area, but if you do, I can get you EE's (well black sexlinks, but they would be considered EE's by most people. I have a bunch of other breeds too, but no silkies to sell.

So I met up with Tillypeeps' husband to pick up my eggs from dheltzel (thank you @dheltzel and @TillyPeeps) and couldn't resist going in to look at the babies....of course we left with 6 of them lol. We kinda had to though. We walked in and Katelyn saw an adordable little white silkie in the bantams bin and since she just lost her little Cookie the other day, I get it for her. Fingers crossed now that it's a pullet :/ I now have 4 extra silkies (my son wanted a RIR pullet). Anyone want them? Lol

I know you are trying to keep your numbers down, but I would suggest keeping them for the summer, they will probably do better having others their own size to hang with as they get adjusted into the coop and then once you know the boy/girl thing you can sell or butcher the extras, but keep two pullets so they have a buddy to brood with....besides, they don't eat much or take up much room...and they are sooooo cute!

I do have 2 others out in the big brooder that are only a couple weeks older than these ones that I'm keeping. Honestly, it doesn't matter if it's a cockerel or pullet. Katelyn is 100% set on this specific one (made me band it and all!) Lol.

My husband is going to have a heart attack when he comes home and sees a million eggs on the table and six more chicks in the brooder. BUT, the kids did want ducks and he is dead set against them so I'll remind him that he's lucky that I didn't just get them ducks instead :)
