This is great news!  I'm still trying to think up a turkey coop design that will draw them back in to roost.  I'm thinking of a design that has an open front and large high roosts with sides that are not solid, probably use a lot of hardware clothe.  I still need to get on E-Bay or Amazon and get a deal on that stuff.

Ya I to need to find a small turkey coop big enough for two or three turkeys maybe one tom and two turkeys

AWWWW love me a lavender chick!  What breed?

I did not get to pick up my turkey eggs before lock down, so now I'm patiently waiting to hear what has hatched....
ummm WOW!

Yes.

They are lavender ameraucanas :)

You'll have to let me know as soon as they hatch what you ended up with. I'm super excited to see how they did :)

Chicken train left Bedford around 8 pm.

I blundered at my stop :/ there was a little confusion over chick transport (I didn't realize I needed a box, duh!) And then some emotion when I was saying goodbye to my sweet roo Rosco and I walked away without my eggs! I feel like such a total dummy! I didn't even realize it until I was halfway home lol. I did get my little chick though lol.

We'll figure it out though. Either we'll make arrangements to meet somewhere or someone else will get to hatch a bunch of beautiful babies.

I can try to take a picture of my set up tomorrow. Took a lot of trial and error and roosting on the chicken coop to get them to sleep where they ate supposed to. I used big 4x6 pallets standing up the tall way plus some other random gates, etc to make a 3 1/2 sided 'turkey shed'. Still have some finishing to do on the roof but they are finally roosting in there now!

@AnneInTheBurbs I've only incubated a small batch this year so far. I've been playing around with incubating styles, not taking things seriously. I had six eggs hatch, 3 were albino, but they all died in the first week. They seem to need extreme care when young, which I didn't provide. Next time they will get their own ICB (intensive care brooder).

There are three doing well that should carry the albino gene. I need to get pictures of them. They are just over two weeks old. Probably roosters, lol.

Sorry to hear that didn't make it. I know you'll get some strong ones eventually. :)

I did well on my egg hunt, now to hatch them!
...I'm actually really nervous!

These ended up in the incubator plus 4 under my broody hen.

Congrats! Best of luck!

@fisherlady
Definitely a pullet. I see a second that might be, and a definite cockerel.

I'm very happy with how many have ... I guess I'd call it speckles. They are certainly going to be a nice addition to the flock!

Are they BRs?

My granddaughter's trampoline went airborn , over a 6 foot fence, and into the neighbors yard, narrowly missing their window! !

Yikes! Glad it missed.

Crayon shavings and a hair dryer :D

Yup, knocked out the power in town while I was running errands and knocked down a stoplight in an intersection down the road. Police were directing traffic everywhere

thats incredible, I'll have to try that someday!

New member from PA checking in. I'm from the Northwest, a little place called Greenville. Looking forward to sharing stories, pictures and comparing notes with everyone!

Welcome! As others have said, plenty of enabling going on here to encourage chicken math.

Thank you and glad to hear it as I am new to this! My parents,  my wife and I are consolidating and are on the hunt for a small farm and I want to get into raising some chickens and other fowl so I will be sticking around! I don't know where to get much yet. We started off with a mix of birds from a local feed store but I am looking into getting two dozen Silver Laced Wyandottes when I get a dedicated coop built for them! So the enabling will be more than welcome.

Thank you!
Thank you!

Only two dozen? ;)

LOL, I thought that was code for "put more eggs in the incubator".
I really think it should be.

You know you have a problem when....

Been offline a while, busy day at the farm. The chicken train left Pottstown about 5 PM with eggs, chicks and poults.

Not online checking every post? Whatever could you be doing?:smack

I just got my turkey back today she ran away Sunday and was roosting on my neighbors roof

Whew! Glad you got her back. Sounds like it's a n issue with turkeys.

I'm jealous!  Really want to get my garden started, but have just been too darn sick.

And in other news, just got back home from a week away and my 5 year old Silkie (Mary) is gone.  House sitter told me she found white feathers out front, but I looked and looked and saw no feathers.  I will hold out hope that she's snuggled in somewhere hatching eggs.  It just breaks my heart to lose one with a name.

So sorry, hope she did go broody. I hate losing one you've had for a while. Especially the pretty silkies.

I'm glad to hear turkeys in general refuse the "normal" chicken roosting routine, I thought maybe my turkey was lonely.

Are they BRs?
Nope, just really awesome mutts! For the life of me, I can't figure out how they aren't red or blonde. I only have two black hens, and the other 3 are red or blondish. The rooster isn't black either. I might "have" to hatch some more to get a few reds for my sister's new farm. My niece will be in charge, and I want her to know which is which.

Or, I can get a few off Jess.

Oh, no! Sorry that you forgot the eggs. What kind of chick you got?
