Has anyone ever had an issue with bears trying to break into your coops? I haven't yet but just a little concerned since apparently one decided to visit and raid my bird feeders which were two feet from my turkey coop and maybe 30 feet from the chicken coop. I don't leave food in them overnight but you know there's always remnants. I'm just a little concerned about mr bear coming back for more and breaking into the coops to find it. I wish we had a trail cam to catch him in the act. It was right outside our bedroom window and we never heard a thing. Both feeders were ripped down and emptied and the bench that was under them is annialated. :/

I really liked my barn feeder. It was finally one that kept the squirrels out. Didn't even give bears a thought. Maybe hubby can weld it for me.

The girls were more than happy to clean up the mess he left behind though. I honestly didn't even notice it at first but realized that the girls were taking an abnormally long time to clean up the little bit of spilled seed that's always there in the morning.

Nope. It's the one thing no one can proof the coop of. I'm aware that bears come around here. I just hope none ever do, and worry more about the other varmints.
I am sorry though. :hugs

I hope the transition doesn't take too long, but I'm sure it will still feel like ages even if it is quick...just keep thinking...more room means more chooks, more room means more chooks...lol

Thanks! I'm sure the time will fly by because there's so much work to be done. I'm so happy they will be well taken care of for the time being. Yes, I am very excited to get more chickens, and ducks and,,..,. ;)

That's a tough one...there is no real bear proofing,,,,I'd suggest thinking of ways to make them not want to come near your property....
