Wish you were closer, I have Marans chicks hatching every weekend. They were not hatching at all for a while, now I'm getting 5 or more every week, it's all or nothing from those. I'm still not a Marans fan, I have 6 hens and a dozen eggs is a good week for them. A few pens down I have a trio of California Greys and and I get at least a dozen eggs from those 2 hens every week.

They could be getting broke because if she is a smaller bird she could be having trouble with that many eggs so trying to shuffle them around to settle hey may be getting broke.

Well, one egg got broken somehow. So down to 13 for her.

Don't worry, that's still a good number! One of my girls hatched out 12 chicks last year. After a while she seemed like she was having trouble keeping up with everybody.

Anne:

Don't know if they are Banty's, but Ladyhawke handed off a couple of her Red Dorks to me to make room for some Langshans, you might want to ping her,,,my two cents....

I will do that when I get my new place. Thanks!

Someone is getting in with her, or the shells are too thin. :hugs

X2, when that happened at our place, it was because the other girls always wanted to lay in her nest, and the eggs got knocked around during scuffles. I just had o out up with it, until the future when I will have more nest boxes.
