Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Gave little chicky another warm bath. Lubed, gloved up and started working the vent area around that eggbound egg again while she rested in the water. Spent a good deal of time massaging and moving all around the egg. I could do complete circles around it, but she just couldn't seem to expel it. Nothing is more frustrating than knowing the solution, but not being able to resolve the problem. Gave up and wrapped her in a towel to let her dry and rest while I cleaned up. Picked her up to dry her some and could see a light brown "bubble" exiting after just a short time. Was able to help her "deliver" a perfect sized soft-shelled pullet egg. I am so relieved and hope I never have to do anything like that again! Massaged the prolapse back in and will let her recoup in her crate while we monitor her healing. Did I mention how relieved I am?! Whew . . . Pic of that stubborn egg cause I know you're the kind of people that appreciate such things! :clap Thanks for talking me through this one. :hugs
THAT IS GREAT!!!!!!

Ok all i have a,quick question, i am getting 3 laying hens tomorrow and my girls i have noe are 15 weeks old and not laying yet. I am out of feed so....Are my young girls old enough to start giving layer feed, if not how do i separate feed

Red:

At 15 weeks, they are big enough to eat adult food....I'd bet your new adult birds will push the young ones off the bowl of food, so maybe two bowls one layer and one grower in different spots and let the big girls get settled before putting the grower bowl is a separate area....my two cents.....

Thanks Stake.....i think i will try that although i am out of grower and i dont want to get a 50 lb bag for just 3 weeks i am hoping the have a 20lb bag. Also what feed wouldcu recommend, right now i am using Dumor is there something better out there the local TSC only sales Dumor and Purina.

I think the appropriate answer is: get a 50lb bag of grower and get more chicks.....????.....I am using Dumor myself (from TSC)...I have used both Purina and Southbend (Agway), but find the TSC price better....from where I live there's a 4$-5$ difference if I travel about 20 miles west....so I'm more interested in the $$$, personally, I don't think there's an ounce of difference in most 'production' feeds....you might find better at a local mill where you can have it customized to your needs....

That's cool I was thinking of starting to breed maybe Cochins, black Ayam cenami, black jersey Giants. And I haven't really decided what all I want to breed someday.
if you find a black jersey giant cockerel please let me know i have a female i am dieing to breed just because there are very few in Pennsylvania along with shamos and phoenix's

Ya it's seems like when you are looking for something then you can't find it but en when you don't want it or need it then you can find it. Am I right like then I would be looking for a breeder that has lets go with e black jersey Giants and I can ask on threads and search all over Facebook BYC.
