Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

it may be ridiculous but I have feed eggs back to the chickens all the time before I ever knew this because they loved them so I have no way of telling how they would act if I stopped feeding the eggs. today I was walking out of the pen with the last egg for the day and one of the hens jumped up and broke the egg so I had egf on my shoes the other hens that were surrounded me cause they thought I had treats had egg on them.

Hey everybody! Is there anyone in North West Clearfield county? I will be vacationing there in a couple weeks and I would love to visit a chicken friend. I'm in chicken withdrawal and I could use a fix! Can't take any home with me, but it would be lovely to see someone's setup and poultry family. :D

We're in northern cambria county. Not sure how close that is though to where you'll be.

Congrats! I hope to do that one day, but I know it will be hard. Worth it, yes, but challenging.
Okay, now that we all know you're an expert, you get to teach classes.
:highfive:
That's so goofy. Yes, they have been bred to lay more, but that's why they are fed a high protein feed with extra calcium and nutrients. Reminds me of when my avian vet said she considered "spaying" her chickens so they could live a longer life. Oh dear....

That's so funny I didn't even know they could spay chickens well I am sure it was possible but I didn't know vets would spay them.

well folks the chicken math and timings are catching up with me...

So I have a brooder overloaded with 4-5wk olds....they are going outside tomorrow morning to their pen....this is mainly because I came home from work this evening and I have the first pip on one of five in my incubator.....so....

On Thursday I am going fishing....and I am unsure how to handle new hatches on Wednesday, should I let them in the bator at 100 through Thursday evening or take whatever is out and reset the brooder??? Your thoughts???

PS: Congrats MCC good job!

I would take them out to the brooder and reset.

Thank you! It shocked the heck out of me when I walked into the run this morning, and was about to grab the escape artist. He was cornered, and all I could think was, "More meat!!"

I actually had dreams about the lungs last night. That and the ... "tubey thingy" that I need to get to pop up so I can cut it out of the neck. LOL! I know I can get through it now. I may make some mistakes, but I will figure it out, and I am confident that I can harvest the meat.

Now, back to you (sorry for the jabber). I see no problem with leaving them in the incubator. They should still be in there anyway.

Do it with confidence! And have fun fishing!!
