Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

@troyer I just got a text this morning from a friend (with whom we rehomed our cubalaya pullet) that read: Mrs. Cubalaya (we named her Chiquita) just hatched her second clutch yesterday. She's a great Mom. First clutch were her own eggs crossed with the Marans roosters I also got from you. (AnneintheBurbs) This clutch is mostly Red Sexlinks crossed with an Araucana Rooster, but a couple eggs are her own with the Araucana.

I never knew she was potential broody! This was one of the chicks I hatched with my first broody. So yay team she is living a happy life. Hope you're not upset she is interbreeding. :)

We harvested all our garlic today. There was a lot more there than we thought lol. We shouldn't run out this year at all! How are everyone's gardens don't this year?

I allay finally talked to the guy about the bee equipment. We get to go pick up our stuff on Saturday

Congrats!! This is so much fun!
Quote: I've heard of the 3 sisters setup. Again, something I want to try in my garden next year. I hope I have enough sun. I will probably need to make raised beds, the soil is probably pretty rocky. There are some boulders sticking up out of the ground already.

I love finding bugs to give to my girls! They do eat them like PEZ. My chickens even ate stinkbugs! Thank goodness...

I would appreciate any leads. I also want a couple silkies too in the future...

Adorable!

How are they? Not that I expect there to be an instant change, but ...

Oh man... I worried all last night if they would be okay, I woke up this morning to find them acting their usual spunky selves! :D

I tried to wait long enough to watch for droppings but dang is it hot out there folks! I hung out with them long enough to let them graze a bit, give them their usual gallon jug ice block in their waterer (along with Rooster Booster), ice water filled wading pan and 3 slices of cold watermelon.

Thanks so much again for your help!

[EDIT: I'll keep you updated on worm status!]

Are they big slices? Be sure to not give them too much. It will give them the runs.

Honestly, I have no clue what variety they are lol. All we did was bought up as much garlic from all the local people as possible last year and saved one clove from every bulb to replant.

The 3 sisters garden is really cool but make sure to follow planting instructions exactly. We waited too long to put in the pile beans and now the corn is huge while they're still small lol. It's a learning experience. We'll do better next year. The raised beds though are definitely worth it. Getting enough sun was an issue for us too. We took out 8 trees last year to get enough sun! We'll be replacing them with a semi dwarf orchard instead :)
