Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

They look exactly like the pure Legbars, I have no idea which hen is laying the olive eggs. Olive eggs are always quite variable. They often have darker spots typical of Welvummers, but not always. A few were even closer to grey than olive in color.

Molly laid her first egg today. It is grey! I was surprised about the color. Since I got it at evening time, I wasn't sure if I saw the true color.

The seller of our new home invited us up yesterday so we could look over some improvements he was going to make. And maybe buy his tractor, haha! I was scoping the area to see where I could put my coop. I think I have an idea, but I need to clear out some area. I will need to take down some brush and maybe some saplings. At least it will be in the beginning of September when the weather will be cooling a bit. I'm so excited!! :yiipchick
Anne: I think you need to get some goats....let them clear out the brush....when's your settlement date???
I'd would love to rent some goats, but they better work quickly! Settlement is August 30th.
Good afternoon all: Welcome to the nebie's and the lurkers.... So, here's my hatch so far.....x4 olive eggers and one CCL girl... Wha't funny is I was expecting all CCLs, seems #3 roo is playing milkman...thought I be getting OE's from my BCM girls....go figure...and as disappointed as I was the performance of my CCL boys, a RedTail made a pass around the property this afternoon, the CCL boys gathered the girls up under protection then #1 stood guard while #2 went out in the open to challenge the hawk.....go figure.... lastly, I was checking on the unhatched eggs and herd some chirping, so maybe a late comer may arrive....on a percentage basis, my best hatch yet....
Congrats! Looks good! Hope the late comers make it...
Welcome!! Cool! The friend that is homing my chickens in Media has peafowl also. I remmeber her saying they take long time ( in comparison with chickens) to sexually mature. I think she said something like 3 years. Whew! BTW, do you have Muscovys? I was just reading about how wonderful they are for bug eating! You two are terrible with the enabling. But I agree DHeltzel, giving her some eggs is the best way to break a broody. :duc
Our Peas are 3 years old now, some eggs were fertile last year, but only 1 chick hatched. Only 1 so far this year too. They are just harder to incubate apparently. I've never had Muscovies. We have roving bands of guineas, I can't imagine the muscovies would be any better than the guineas, though they are quieter.
Quiet is good, my neighbor's are still fairly close.

Congrats! Love to see a picture of the egg, sounds interesting.

Hello everyone! I'm not in PA but I do live very close to the Hanover/Littlestown area and the surrounding area. I have a 19 week old Black Australorp rooster for sale. He has a good disposition, no signs of being aggressive. Please Pm if you're interested.
