1- 10 gallon? water in run
1- feed bowl given in the AM, vegetables/greens/grass...everything & the kitchen sink throughout the day:D
crops are full at bed time & everyone seems content...but they always "act" hungry, they are chickens & are always looking for the handout

Auroradream almost made me snort with her comment. Did you see how the coffee got into my eyes? :D
I tried to cover that there is food inside the coop, and once I release the hounds in the morning, the chicks stay back while the big ones rush to the first feed bowl. As I fill more bowls, the birds split up, and the chicks go where they can. Meanwhile, they eat the remnants from the feeder and bowl closest to the coop.
I guess the whole dinosaur thing kicks in. Though it's more like squirrels. They save the food in the coop for overnight.

I had goose bumps on my arms the other day when I came to let the chickens out. That means it's about time to put the cover on the pool, and pack up the camper and go camping one last time for the year before the lake closes for the season. :bun

A while back maybe about a month ago I posted a chicken I wasn't sure about gender I couldn't find the post but these past two days my rooster has been mating with the him her so I was thinking it could be a hen. I also know that it could be a dominance thing but I want to hope it's a hen.

Its nice a crisp morning here too(Chester Co)....though alot warmer than 47....one of my one week old chicks was complaining so I had to close the window for her.....
 
I had to go back to the coop this morning because I forgot to open the door for the doves. I don't know who will suffer more this weekend. The doves because they will be separated from each other, or me because I will be worried about them?
And am I seriously leaving food out for the lone dove?

Doves take shifts on the nest. When I shut the door, that is it. They can't get to each other. He should be the one on the nest when I leave. He will be forced to go without food and water, or dare to fly down for food and water. The food and water will be right below him (okay, not under the nest, but you know what I mean). About six or seven feet from the nest. She will have water and food outside.
