I agree. It's probably something like a start to molting.

I think of my California Grays is sick. Yesterday and today she is just standing around, all fluffed up, and putting her head under her wing. She doesn't seem to have any other symptoms, other than a pale comb and wattles. When I try to pick her up, she does try to run away is seems very spry. I will keep and eye on her today, and if she is not showing any signs of improvement, I will isolate her and try to give her some TLC.

The turkeys are learning to free range, just have to make sure they don't go too far. I do hope they learn to come back tonight without too much trouble. I have learned turkey herding is only accomplished if you make an idiot out of yourself. This includes talking to to them, arms spread, and following them around like a stalker.

I would treat the cali grey for cocci. That's what it sounds like to me anyway.

For the turkeys, I have a plastic rake that I use to make my arm span much longer when I herd them in to the coop in the evenings. Works really well :)

What's the treatment for cocci? I probably should know this....

This is for the ones that might have missed it not having facebook and another reminder for those that do. There will also be vendors selling chickens. Hint hint!

Thanks so much. I will pop on over to TSC tomorrow to pick some up. :D

If your local TSC doesn't carry Corid (mine didn't) you can also get durvet, sulfadimethoxine soluble powder. Is in a yellow and white packet with a green label on the front. Doseage is 1 tsp/gallon for I think 5 days. Someone correct me if I'm wrong on the time period.

We're picking up another muscovy duckling tomorrow evening :) they are 3 weeks old so should be close in age to Cocoa. The lady is going to pick the smallest ones with skinny legs for me top pick from to hopefully make sure I get a girl. Cocoa and Mira still get along great and love each other but Cocoa was really upset last night. She wanted to swim so bad but Mira wouldn't get in with her so she kept pacing and crying lol. She needs someone to swim with!

I don't think I have seen my Muscovy girl swim since she was little. And speaking of which. OMG! The turkey had a growth spurt! The remaining SPR too, but the turkey... Wow! I was losing hope. I think when I had more turkeys a few years ago, I was calmer about it because there were so many to compare to. I also had them on meat bird from the start. I still have not used my meat feed. I should before it goes bad.

Lol, I would love to see a picture. I think I was really confused with them for a while too, they would grow really slow and then one day BOOM! Lol.

Even if the muscovy don't swim much once full grown, it'll be nice for Cocoa to have one of her own kind to do duck things with. Especially if Cocoa turns out to be a boy. Then he could focus his attentions on his own lady and not my hens lol
