Bad news. It's my understanding that bad tempered roos pass it on. Be careful.

I have read that, so I drove 2 hours and picked up 5 eggs from some lovely chickens and unaggressive and beautiful roos. They are at 8 days incubation , can't wait to see what I get! On a side note I went to collect my earnings from the chicken auction and saw the woman who happened to buy both of my roos, she was telling him how handsome he was and she is not planning on eating either of them.....until she gets to know them I'm sure lol

As MCC said, bad luck....I've never had an aggressive roo, maybe because I make sure all the roos know that I am the 'big dog' on the block...

and I do have extra baby OE roos is you want them.....
Boy, I've had my share of aggressive roos over the years. I think 2 (of many) silkies were the worst. Almost all silkie roos are mild mannered and easy to manage - but those 2 had all the evil of the rest coiled up inside them. Inn the past 2 years, I've had 2 other roos turn bad and both ended up as soup, hopefully as a lesson to the others. I completely trust all but 1 roo now. He's never made contact with me, but he acts like he may someday. I'm raising a lot of his sons to replace him and will certainly end up with some nice ones.

This is one of my favorites, Long John (he's a Silver Ameraucana, lol). He escaped his brooder a while back and since I had extra males, I didn't bother catching him. He is sharper than most chickens, he's learned that I supply feed and water, so he follows me around and waits expectantly. I usually give him food and water and he is pretty easy to pick up now. He is going to be really pretty when he gets all feathered out, free ranging is good for their feather condition and color.
He's the perfect example of how sweet and nice a roo can be.

Here are some other pics I took today:
Bantam Lavender Ameraucanas - I am really liking these birds. Notice the eggs?

And a great shot of a young Welbar roo, showing off his hackle and saddle feathers (and a photobomb from his sister):

Hey everyone how's it going? I haven't been on in quite a while. All my birds are doing well except we lost our Bantam Easter Egger to a predator when she ran down in our bottom yard instead of coming up to the coop to eat and we couldn't find her RIP Honey. Well on another note I hatched a lot of chicks this year and well as all of you know not all chicks turn out to be hens. My pap gave me some eggs that he said were RIR's but turns out that they were mixed. Now I have 3 brothers that I need to sell and was just putting it out there that I have 3 for sale.

I am asking 12 a piece but would possibly go down to ten, pm me if interested.

They are gorgeous!! I love the lavanders
I am very taken with them and how friendly they are. They come right to the front of the coop looking for treats (clover is a favorite) and will eat from my hand. The eggs are tiny so far, but I'm testing their fertility in a friend's incubator. Even as adults, they are so small I would consider hatching and raising them indoors through the winter. Both birds and eggs are roughly the size of a large Coturnix quail, but with a far more desirable personality.
