Ah poopers. I think I'm going to do a little test run, just to try it out. :)
Yay! Chickies!

Welcome!
I finally gave up on Ana quitting this broody thing. She's been sitting for like 2 months! I finally gave her a couple silkie eggs. There's a slight chance that they could still be pure lol. Hopefully she hatches at least one so she can play mama again and get this out of her system!
What are you going to give her?

The first time I saw a baby chick asleep, I totally panicked. I had thought they would sleep standing with their heads under their wings like my canaries!
Haha, it is spooky for sure, they just plop sometimes!

Good luck! Let me know how it works out, I'm curious :)

This is our indoor grow corner. We have potted and hydroponics going on here. The big one in the bucket is a bell pepper that we uprooted from the garden and transferred to a hydroponic system to see if it would work out. That thing has at least 6 baby preorders on it and a bunch of blossoms. In the middle are able plants that keep dividing and on the left is a bucket of dirt that we had ginger in. I just started sprouting 3 sugar snap peas and 3 bush beans to put in there next. The two big plans on the floor are lemon trees :)

As for Ana, i gave her 4 silkie eggs. I'm going to collect a few more over the next couple days to incubate in here, just in case hers don't make it.

Just wanted to share. The other day, I ended up in a debate on the PA poultry Facebook page over dry hatching so i did an experiment and put a sensor under Ana to measure the humidity that was in her nest. The first time i checked, it was 100° and 28% humidity. Second day was 98° and 30% humidity, then today, i checked one last time before i removed the sensor (since she has eggs now) and took a picture of it just for conformation. I felt it was a very meaningful experiment, seeing as how the humidity was outside was so high from the rain and she still had her humidity pretty low. I definitely feel great about dry hatching now :)

FYI-outdoor is from sensor under Ana, indoor is actualy outside conditions lol

Anne:

I used a 4' fluorescent light for my hydrophonics....I used to different color temp bulbs....was good enough to start plants but was not strong enough for adult plants....I also had mylar reflectors to assist....in starting seeds, I've always had more issues with air temps as I keep my house a bit on the chilly side....my two cents...

We'll be there on Sunday :)

Does anyone on here show their chickens? I'd love to go and see a show in PA after watching the chicken documentary about the show in Ohio.

The Farm Show is not the only place that there is Poultry on display through out the year. Various fairs have nice displays. Lebanon Fair in late July had 700+ birds entered. (Lebanon would be about an hour and 15 mins from Malvern. Not a bad ride.) Also, at the same show grounds in October there is a poultry club that has a show that last year had 1100+ birds entered. That included ducks, geese and turkeys, also. If you want to see up close and personal all the gorgeous breeds of chickens that are out there, I'd recommend a trip to either one of those events. Also, poultry show central lists shows by state. Hope that helps.

Sent you a PM. I buy mostly from Gehmans in Denver, PA, but sometimes from Browns in Birdsboro. There is another place near Denver called Stevens that was recommended to me. Lots of feed mills around this "farming country" (anything near Lancaster Co).

We get ours feom Good's feed mill on 897. Near the Weavers store in five pointville. I'm surprised u drive all the way to Denver for chicken feed
