I hope things work out for you too. The bra has come to the rescue for me in the past also. If you were closer, I'd say pack them warm and bring them over, my cabinet is running nonstop but an hour or 2 in the car may be a bit much

Thank you! If I saw this sooner I may have just done it. The bra worked well till morning. I'm just worried about shrink wrapping. We got a Little Giant at TSC this morning. 3 pips but no hatches. They are due today.

I've been thinking (uh oh!). Why not hover the heat lamp at the appropriate height to keep the eggs at a good temperature (98-100), and add the chick water to add a little humidity?
Sally Sunshine shared an article about hatching temperatures being okay lower. I just can't remember how low.

We had the lamp almost touching and it was only 86. But I don't have a heat lamp just a regular one. I am too worried about fires...if that is such a thing...too worried? The crock pot did not work either and cooked 4 sizzle eggs when it got to 123 degrees on warm. (Yes, someone suggested it) The 9 I put in my bra worked till this am when TSC opened. I sat in the steamy bathroom 3x during the night for humidity and slept a few minutes at a time sitting up on the couch. It was rough but if they hatch, so worth it. Just worried now that they are shrink wrapped. 3 pips, no hatchs. Today is hatch day.

The crockpot sounded iffy.
No, you can't be too worried.
If they are shrink wrapped, just assist. It's not difficult unless you overthink it. People are tired of hearing this, but last May Duckling assisted a chick. She was 22-months. I told her what to do, but kept my hands off.
I have faith in you!

I had to leave for a few hours this evening and came home to 7 new poults in the hatcher running around! They weren't sure to tomorrow. I think two more were zipping. We'll see what's in there by morning :)

Thanks, @FluffyButt789 and @fangedknight ! Those pics make me look forward to green grass and leaves on the trees again. Right now that grassy area in the las pic looks like this:

On the upside, my new covered run is almost done! Now we mostly just need to add sand for bedding, and cut a door into the coop so the chickens can actually use it! We're probably also going to add some soil to grade that "grassy" area so it doesn't turn into a pond with every rainfall. Best to do it now while it's already a mud pit, and then seed it so the grass can grow by summer.

Yep, our yard is a wet muddy mess. Well actually it snowed too so.... ugh is it spring yet? We have so much yard work to do.

I can definitely see her being a hoarder. There were at least 200 to 250 birds walking around plus pigs cows, wiener dogs, cats, and anything else you can think of. In all reality she's not my grandma so I should stop feeling so bad for being mad about the poor goats. I'll talk to the vet tomorrow and see who I should talk to. They ate way more today and only one foot is still hurting enough to limp. I'm hoping the wormer I gave them is finally working.

This is one of the chicks I know is blue. Not a very good pic. Hopefully the featherless one does lighten up. I really like the splashes.

And look at all of my eggs from 4 days plus 12 that we ate last night! 22 duck eggs!

I feel so bad for hoarders but it's not ok for animals to be living in bad situations. Those goats you have are super lucky to have you! Let us know what the vet says tomorrow!

Very pretty chick and eggs too!

Okie dokie! I got the pictures of the chicken coop plans up on my build thread! :D Here's the link to it if anyone wants it. Turns out the plans were actually hiding in Keith's binder that was sitting on the floor the whole time... We both thought the gremlins had eaten it.

8x10, that is huge! We built a 4x8 coop and it was a pain in the neck. One day I'll be buying a shed and just adding walls to it! Let us know how it comes along! :)

Okay, well my brain melted after the first sentence.... Thanks anyways

So, a simple "no" would have sufficed?

Haha, yep! Are you an engineer by chance?

Best of luck! :fl We go into lockdown tomorrow!

@stake. @fisherlady. Yep, the girl above is still on the nest and fanning her butt feathers when I pester her. Looks like someone else may have the broody bug. I did want to get some eggs from @msladyhawke soon. We'll have to see if she sticks...

:weee

Haha, yep! Are you an engineer by chance?
Yes, I am, how did you know?
Reminds me of one of my favorite jokes:

A man in a hot air balloon realized he was lost. He reduced altitude and spotted a man below. He descended a bit more and shouted,
"Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don't know where I am."
The man below replied, "You are in a hot air balloon hovering approximately 30 feet above the ground. You are between 40 and 41 degrees north latitude and between 59 and 60 degrees west longitude."
"You must be an engineer," said the balloonist.
"I am," replied the man, "How did you know?"
"Well," answered the balloonist, "everything you told me is technically correct, but I have no idea what to make of your information, and the fact is I am still lost. Frankly, you've not been much help so far."
The man below responded, "You must be a manager."
"I am," replied the balloonist, "but how did you know."
"Well," said the man, "you don't know where you are or where you are going. You have risen to where you are due to a large quantity of hot air. You made a promise that you have no idea how to keep, and you expect me to solve your problem. The fact is, you are in exactly the same position you were in before we met, but now, somehow, it's my fault."
