It does make you wonder...

Hey guys, what would you charge for turkey poults? I have someone in the area who is interested in my babies, and she is willing to wait until they are naturally separated from the mother. $10 a poult? I figure they will be around 8 weeks old or so. This is assuming I can let them go...

I just sold 4 of my hens this morning to a guy I got the sick bantam cochin from. He wanted a few layers that were already producing. I know he just wanted more eggs for his wife and new baby. So I decided to part with my girls. I know I will have more to replace them soon between the incubator and my broodies. He seems to care about his flock and I knew they would have a good home.

I do $10 each as babies. I would probably ask at least $15 since you'll be feeding them until then.

I just found out I have to rehome two of my Muscovies. Turned out to be boys and they are hurting my darling Peking girls. ): I'd pay 10 for turkeys! Although I'd probably pay way more just to have them... my boys helped me take care of birds today.

Ditto on what Auroradream said. They go for ten to fifteen as day-olds at the Clearfield bird swaps. A few years ago, a guy couldn't even get out of his vehicle before his were all sold!

@AnneInTheBurbs , I'm betting on one of the older silkies. But, it's just a guess.

Speaking of eggs, I got the first egg from my silkied lavender ameraucanas today :) It's been added to the incubation line-up

Silkied lav ams!? So neat. Are they as big as regular LF Ameraucanas, or are they (and their eggs) smaller because of the silkie blood? Do you have any pics?

I wish I could take Lav Am eggs or chicks, but we don't want to become public enemy #1 in the neighborhood by getting roosters again. I would pay more for juvenile/adult stock, if it were available. Or, if there were a return program available for chicks who turned out to be boys, I might be able to talk my husband into taking the chance with me.... I know you only generally grow out the birds you plan to keep, but if you ever happened to find yourself with more hens than you want, I'll be here! ;) I'm jealous of everyone here who can hatch eggs and keep roos!
