Wyandotte??

Sorry it's only letting me do two at a time today?

I had some tarping 'fails' there has GOT to be a better way.

Got this one tarped pretty well, but the heavy wet snow calapsed it. I'm looking at this as a good thing as we purchased materials this week to build another hoop coop and this mishap motivators me to put more support on the next one.

I didn't tarp the door here, and that's where all the snow came in.

I'm sorry you are stuck dealing with the heavier snows...we have been lucky here, the heaviest stuff missed us. I do really like the hay bales around the bases, great wind break!

Sounds like you are taking excellent care of her. Hope this issue resolves itself. Is she getting enough calcium?

Thank you! I wondered about the calcium too. The whole flock is on layer crumbles, and I haven't had any other soft shells (quite the contrary--they are mostly quite strong, and some have calcium deposits), so I assume she at least has access to enough, although I got lazy and stopped supplementing the flock with oyster shells awhile ago. I still have the oyster shells and could give them to her, but I wasn't sure given her age/issues whether having harder eggs would be better for her, or whether the soft ones might be easier to lay?

That stinks! My tarps gave way also, but I made sure everyone stayed in the coop today. I knew it was going to come down soon. I am excited that the pole barn we have has that corrugated plastic sheeting for the sides, and we are going to be updating that soon, so I will have those panels to make better roof on my run, and I think I can use the panels next year for my run "walls". It should be a heck of a lot better than tarps!

I have ink it probably couldn't hurt, if she needs more, she will eat more. Might want to search the forums and see if anyone else has had a similar problem.

Today I got a turkey egg! I'm so happy because that means Wheezy is now laying! The other turkey is broody, so I know it wasn't her. Wheezy also laid it in the nest box. Now I know she is all better from her wheezy cough. So thankful for that Vetrx stuff! Now for the happy dance!

I hate using tarps, but it's a necessary thing sometimes. A lot of snow blew into the main coop on the leeward end. The gusts created some sort of vortex that dumped snow inside. I make the coops very well ventilated, but that can be an issue on days like today.

Nah, I think its funny. Especially since now she's a success story!

Edited to add: Now I'll have to check to see if they're fertile... I still have the incubator!
