Something is goofy with my account, and I can't seem to figure it out. When I click on subscriptions on the top, it no longer shows anything under activity feed, so to get to the new posts on subscribed threads, I have to click the subscribed tab, and when I click the thread from there, it takes me to page 1, not the oldest unread post. anyone have any idea?

To those of you who incubate, I bought a new incubator and it came with a turner. It came fully assembled, but it had directions on how to assemble it. Is there anything else I need to do? I don't hear it running, and I can't tell if it was turning when I was warming up the bator.

Eek. I came home and checked my meat chicks to find one dead. No big deal, it happens. But I had put my Langshan chicks (2) and my turkey chick in with them so they would have more company. I figured I would be okay until this weekend, until I could build some outdoor housing for the meat chicks. Unfortunately, one of the Langshan chicks is missing, which means it was eaten. :sick. Well, now they are unhappily separated. They may be lonely, but better off lonely than dead.

So excited! I found the chick, and it is alive! I put the meat chicks out in a playpen in the yard, and when I came back in, I sill heard some cheeps. The poor thing was stuck in a flap of the heating pad. It was warm last night, so I had turned the pad off, thank goodness. I am giving the little squirt some alone time, just to make sure it eats a drinks a bit before I put her outside for the day. She is a bit wobbly, understandable for being squished for 12+ hours. I think we will call her (hopefully) Phoenix! :weee

Sorry lol yesterday marked her first 24 hours sitting on eggs. I meant does it take 21 days for Bantams to hatch? I found different threads that said possible 19?

I think it depends on the broody. My old broodies would hatch out chicks on day 20, my current girls seem to do 21-22.

I didn't catch the broody part, sorry. This is the first time I have eggs under a broody.

I'm so glad you found her! I've lost many young meat chicks over the years, but I always find them in the brooder... none have been cannibalized. Even when I had older meat birds and had a bird die via raccoon through the mesh of the tractor, the other birds walked on it, but never ate it. I was surprised when I read your earlier post, but didn't have time to respond... I had my hopes up that you'd find her somewhere :)

So glad you found her, and even happier she was still in one piece when you did! :jumpy

I have had silkie eggs (my only bantams) hatch on day 19... and my broodies routinely hatch out chicks anytime from early day 20... the 21 days is an average, but certainly not the rule. I always plan on them to be early and Mindy lets us know when they are starting to pip (she listens for cheeping with all of our broodies)

All chicks that I hatch tend to hatch on late day 20 or early on day 21. LF and bantam. Even the tiny little serama chick that I hatched was on day 21 lol.

Now turkeys, they routinely hatch on day 27 for me lol

Welcome! You aren't too far from me, I am in Schuylkill County :) I haven't heard of that place

That's not far at all! Knisely's is a feed store in Carlisle, I was asking in case anyone knew which hatchery they used. They get a large variety of chicks and have their breed order schedule online. I picked up 5 hatchery quality Dominiques and an EE from them in March, all sexed as pullets, however 2 Doms were obvious cockerels at week 5 :( so I had been curious if anyone had similar experience with misgendered chicks from either them or the hatchery they use. Doms are supposed to be fairly easily sexed at hatch so it was rather disappointing.
