We have a hen hatching today at day 24, she had 2 separate incidents of being pushed off the nest and the eggs chilling, so they are delayed.

Yep, frustrating that broodies don't have a viewing window like Incubators! Our girl now has 2 out and 2 pips, I left Mindy in the coop with her. I also put a wire grate in front of her nest to keep other nosey hens out. Hatched or not she will have to be moved to a broody hut this afternoon since we will be going to camp this evening.

Anyone knowledgeable on chicken genetics want to take a crack at what I should expect from the chicks... if there are any gender specific traits or dominant feather colors, etc. I have a Delaware roo over dark Cornish hens. There are a few Delaware hens too, so it would be nice to have an idea what the cross will look like to be sure I can tell the pure Delawares from the crosses.

I am not certain without more research, but I know the purebred Delawares are all yellow at hatch. I think the dark will be dominant over the silver of the Delaware (that makes them yellow), so the hybrid chicks should be dark in color.
