Wow! You've got a lot going on. My kids don't go back until next week. Something I dread every year.
Your CX having bumble foot seems to support my theory of the heavier birds getting it....lower roost bars are a must for my Orpingtons and Marans from now on.
We have the same situation with the hot peppers over here, hubby likes em, I don't. Sometimes I make a hot pepper jam with them. Lately I've been putting the seeds into my white clam sauce that we eat over pasta, the kids LOVE it. Such a bummer that you burned your hands, be happy that you didn't rub your eyes....or did you?
My RIRs and SLW were always at the top of the pecking order. They were nice to people, but they were the bosses in the coop. Even when I introduced the SLW to a new coop, she didn't waste any time letting the resident birds know she was not to be messed with. I do miss her gorgeous feathers and fluffy butt though. Some of my favorite large brown egg layers are black australorps, they were sweet and I will get some more (maybe next year). Delaware are also really great brown egg layers.
@Auroradream26 if you are looking for a mature, male Cornish X, my neighbor has two... they successfully mate with her barred rocks and buff orpingtons. She only wants one of them.
