Its called scours. They seem to get it for a lot of reasons but we think we were dealing with pneumonia. We lost one when we first got them to it so we we're really scared after. But we started giving antibiotics for it and everyone responded as well as yogurt and lots of electrolytes. We'll be better prepared next time and hoping someday we'll breed our own.
Calf scours is Coccidiosis. My BIL has a gallon jug of Corid for scours. Just like chicks, it works miracles if given in time.

Love love love your photos, I have 1 million questions. How old were the calves when you got them? When will they be finished? Are you keeping them on pasture? Are you supplementing with alfalfa or grain? Did you get water run out to them or are you carrying it? Are you raising them for meat? Or are they pets? How did you get anabiotic’s, did you need to go through a vet? Ummm... that’s all I’ve got for now

PDA will be offering a Certified Poultry Technician course on October 24 from 10am-2pm at the PA Dept of Ag in Harrisburg. This is a great opportunity to get certified if you have show birds.

Contact Stacy at PDA for more info and to sign up. Her info can be found here...

Thank you for posting this. I think I'm going to go for it this year since i want to get in to showing. I just sent Stacy an email.

Just wanted to give an update on my girl with her broken beak. It has grown out perfectly. I will edit this later so you can see a before and after. The only treatment I provided was a bit of glue on her break the first day, just to let it firm up, since it had been bleeding. I did monitor her, and she was still able to eat okay, so I did not think it was necessary to do more. Yay Curly!

Well, now that it is officially 3 for 3 in the new roo department, anyone want one? And when would be the best age to send them to freezer camp? They are 4 months old now.

We freezer camp the boys when we notice their growth slowing down or when they get obnoxious, whichever comes first. Usually at 18-20 weeks depending on breed/mix

I have a few I need to process now too. Just waiting for my turkey fryer to get fixed so that I can scald. Not looking forward to it, but I know it needs to be done.
