Hey @Auroradream26 ! So you think this cute little roo could be half silkie - half CCL? That's what he looks like to me. He's just so cute!

Also, do you think this mottled black has some RP? She has a couple lovely white speckled butt feathers.

Aww! That little roo is absolutely adorable! Yes, I'd say silkie x CCL though it could possibly CCL X BCM but it would've had to be one of the girls with a big crest. Did I send you blue eggs that time? I can't remember lol. As far as the mottled black, crossing mottled black with royal palm will give both mottled black and royal palm babies. They are interchangeable and interbreedable (new word lol). Romeo has feathers like that on his tail too. Looks like only 1 this time but before molt, there were two. It changes every year.

Cool! Thanks so much. That little roo is definitely half silkie, he has 5 toes, feathered feet, and slate legs. He is so cute. Hopefully, if he is not a pain in the butt, i can keep him, or at least find some one who will give him a harem. Thanks for the info about the Turkeys. I don't remember what kind of eggs you sent. That was a long time ago! Haha.

Here are some random pics from the flock today. Below is Cinnamon, she is one of my girls I got from Stake. She is a doll, but obviously having a rough molt...

I posted on our local Nextdoor.com site to see if my neighbors had any pumpkins of hay/straw bales after the holiday. The straw bales that are sprouting or moldy will be used to make a wind-snow block of sorts around the run. I got a few small bales, and about 18 pumpkins! Any of them that were mushy or cracked will be served immediately. The rest that are in good shape will be put in the basement for later. They loved it!

Here is Tom with the Royal Palm I hatched from @Auroradream26 eggs. I think his name is Henry.

Great score on the pumpkins and bales! The flock looks wonderful :)

I went out today and seperated my breeds so in a couple weeks I will be collecting eggs for the incubator. The ameraucanas are giving me a hard time though. They keep escaping their pen! They're all sporting one clipped wing now. I hated cutting those beautful new feathers though. It was heartbreaking!

Did anyone else go out on Black Friday? We spent about 7 hours between Thursday evening and Friday morning and pretty much finished our Christmas shopping! It's such a relief to not have to worry about much more than stocking stuffers now :)

Help! I have a 2-3 year old hen who suddenly has "Wry Neck"-- I think!
She has been eating grower starter (no body has laid since September, several girls were molting and I have a couple young ones in the flock) oyster shell, grit and some scratch--the last couple days everyone got more treats. Her eyes are bright, crop is empty, plumage fine--she can't hold her head up at all! I put her inside in a laundry basket. When I put her beak in electrolyte solution she drinks a little. She is the last remaining girl from the first four chicks we ever bought. I am about to send my hubby to Walmart for B-vitamins. What else can I do!

Vitamin E and Selenium help wry neck. Good luck with her. You may need to use am eye dropper to make sure she gets what she needs in to her.

Batman got separated from the flock. The boys were ruthless in their chasing him. But the peace in the chicken yard is awesome. I don’t have to carry a stick anymore. The girls all run up to me again. He should have been removed a while ago.

Another pullet is laying...brown. Boring brown. Makes me even more annoyed about the Sapphire dying. My CCL pullet hasn’t laid yet and my CL hen is probably on hiatus till spring. At least I’m getting one olive pullet egg and one EE egg to add variety. Might be time to try leghorns again. Just not white ones
