Aww...Angoras are so adorable! I'm waiting on Marans to lay too, mine are Red Mottled, a project color from Kim Rittenridge, a Marans Chicken Club breeder and district leader. The Black Copper pullet I got from her has been laying for a few weeks now, she's awesome! There's nothing like Marans eggs for French toast!

My Red Marans babies, Jay, Layla, and Zonk:

Does anyone know if this is poisonous to chickens? Google says it’s wonderberry. Idk if that is correct. Thought I should ask before these weeds go in the chicken pen! I couldn’t find any real answers online.

From what I could dig up, some people do safely feed wonderberry aka sunberry to their chickens (whole plant), but green unripe berries are toxic. The plant has African origins, and the leaves are cooked and eaten in Kenya as a bitter green. It is often confused for black nightshade, and honestly if you're not sure of it I would err on the side of caution. Plenty of other green weeds for our feather babies.

A question folks, I have never planted grass seed before, having lived in the woods my whole life. I bought Scott's Turfbuilder dense shade fescue mix in spring to plant in the new chicken yard, but it was so wet (and I was ill) that I never got it planted. Is it ok to plant it now to overwinter, can I expect it to grow back in spring, or should I hold onto it until next spring? Shockingly the planting instructions on the bag say nothing about it.

It really depends on what type of grasses are in the mix. There are certain types that get planted in the fall like fescue, rye and KY bluegrass.
