Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

That's great! Nice to hear Nike and Spaulding are doing their job!

They are lol. I'm going to be swamped with broodies! Actually, I already am :/ I closed up the coops last night for the first time in a couple days (DH has been doing it and all he does is close the doors lol). Every nest but 1 has a broody chicken, duck or turkey in it. The main coop has 4 of 5 nests occupied plus a corner where a turkey and showgirl are sharing. The turkey coop has 2 turkeys piled in a nest, sharing. The only pen without a broody is the silkie pen :idunno. And yes, Ana caught the bug and is plopped in a nest lol. My silkies have never really been very broody and neither have my ameraucanas but the silkie x ameraucanas are INCREDIBLY broody! I just had some babies hatch so maybe I'll save some brooder space and just shove some of these chicks under some hens.

Yesterday, I took girls out for the first time. They are afraid of grass.:gig Everyone jumped right back on me after I put them on the ground. I had all chicks on my legs and arms, and nobody would get down. In a few minutes, my pants are coverd with chicken poo:thThey are at the awkward looking stage now, but still are super friendly. I'm quite supprised. I remember my last batch chicks wouldn't let me touch them at this stage.

They'll get over their fear of grass before you know it! I have a few polkies growing in the brooder and had the first ameraucana hatch last weekend. I did't check the incubator yet to see if any from this week hatched though. Just an update for you :)

Thank you. :D If I can get one ameraucana pullet, the other pullet can be any type. I think polkies, silkies, ameraucana, and their mix are all good pets. I'm just a little worry about the feathered feet getting muddy. My run are close to be done. Just need roof panels and wires on. I plan to move the girls out in 2 weeks. The dog cage is too small for them now.

Yes, I'm still trying to find them a home. I am so worried, I don't want to have to take them to the animal shelter and was worried about asking on FB or Craigslist that I would just get people looking for easy eggs who were not really chicken lovers. They are about 3 or 4 years old, and still laying. Here's a pic I got the other day as I was just letting them out for their daily wanderings. View attachment 2094572

Let me know if you'd still like them, and we can set up a time when I can bring them out to you!

Wendy
