Thanks everyone. I have another question: There are tapeworms and cecal worms found in my birds, so I should deworm my girls. Which one is better for these worms: Valbazen or Zimecterin Gold? They both should work. Since Valbazen is more popular, I'm thinking worms may have less resistance to Zimecterin Gold? plus, someone said Valbazen will not kill some types of tapeworm?

So sorry to hear about poor Henny.

On another topic - I am in lockdown with my first incubated hatch. There are conflicting directions about what to do when some chicks have hatched out, and some are still pipping. Some sources say to offer the chicks water; other sources say keep the incubator closed until they are all finished hatching (up ot 2 days). Which is correct?

Wait till they all hatch. They don't need food or water for the first couple days.

Thanks for the advice. I will let them sit. Despite a power outage during incubation, I have two eggs which moved, indicating that either they are still alive, or I am so crazed from isolation this year that I am imagining things. Alas, the shells are so dark that I can't see any details inside while candling.

If anyone who lives in or near Delco is looking for quality green egg laying chicks, they can contact me. I should have some extra. Half the chicks are Black Ameraucana x Copper Marans, and half are Black Ameraucana x Dennis olive egger. The latter are sexable at birth.
