Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

I’m so very sorry to hear that. :hugs I hope you have better luck tonight.
I have a love/hate relationship with guineas. Mostly I appreciate them, but they can be so loud! I keep hearing protectors with my tools for when I run the electric saw, and I use that sometimes when I'm going to be with the guineas for a time.
This year I kept some of them confined so when they start to lay I can find their eggs. I did that once years ago and hatch lots of keets. Hope I get a lot this year also.

I would offer some to you, but you are too far away.

:lau I dodged the guinea bullet years ago, long before I got my first chickens. My mom saw guineas on The Rosie O’Donnell Show and decided we were going to get some to let wander our woods and eat ticks. (Stupid stupid idea, no shelter or fence, and we are in a 1 acre-zoned development backed up to a wooded area owned by the township). We found a farm store that carried them, but she balked at the price. Keep in mind, she had no intention of feeding or housing her guineas, they were just supposed to eat ticks in the woods.:smack

:hit What did I do to you? I don’t even remember meeting you during the meet up years ago. If we met, I apologize for whatever I did to deserve guineas!
I just think you didn't give them a fair chance. If you try them again, you might have a change of heart !
They are great watchdogs, letting us know if there is a strange person or a predator in the area. I was down to 4 guineas last summer and one morning they were raising a ruckus, it sounded like I had a flock of 40. I went to investigate and found they were harassing a fox. The fox could have attacked, but was so unnerved that he was discovered and pursued that he fled the scene.

The three that live behind me, and bully my flock are my experience. The turkeys never minded them, but even the turkeys stayed away from them. To me, guineas are loud, ugly and mean. I won’t be getting any. I did learn to get them to be quiet I just had to give them scratch. It makes them leave right afterwards too.

My turkeys were my alarm system.
