What do you guys charge for eating eggs? How do you list them for sale locally without having to deal with permits, etc?
$2.50 if you are in the boonies with other sellers nearby. Up to $5.00 if you have city people aka “I want free range” people. In the USA, free range includes in a run.
As long as you don’t sell your eggs as a name brand, you can sell them at a Farmer’s market or small feed store. Just use plain cartons with an address label on it.

There is a farm near me selling for $3 per dozen several years ago. $5 per turkey egg. $15 per peacock egg! I didn't buy eggs from them for a while, so don't know the current price. They just put a sign in front of their property. People get eggs from their refrigerator and leave $3 in the jar on top of it. We have other people selling veggies the same way. I don't think any of them has a permit.

Good news -- I was assured by someone high up that my township won't go after me now that things are quiet. Now I can go back to thinking about my upcoming hatch. I set a bunch of Adam's children, as well as some mail order Spitzhauben and a few bantam silkie types. The Spitzhauben eggs arrived in rough shape so I am not sure if any will make it to hatch. They are still developing (day 12), but have scary looking air sacs. I hope I get at least one lavender female chick out of Adam's eggs -- it is my last chance.

@dheltzel If your friend has any pictures of Adam with his new flock, we would love to see them. Asking really for Paul... for a guy who isn't into pets, he does get rather attached. Meanwhile my township is still harassing me and my backyard is completely quiet. I will keep advocating.
From our last FB messages:
I'll get some pictures tomorrow when we have sun. He has taken to perching on a big mulberry branch we have in the pasture and flanked by some of his ladies and he just crows. We have several moms with strollers that come and watch the chickens. He has been a huge hit and is developing a serious fan club.

Hello Everyone!

I moved from Fl to Pa 3 years ago. I kept chickens in Fl (EEs And a BR) but this will be my first time having chicks here. I am looking for docile and friendly ladies! Sadly I’m no longer out in the country so no roosters are allowed in my township.
I’ve resorted to ordering my chicks online since every single Agway and farm store within a 50 mile radius sells out within a few hours of their arrival! It’s like the cabbage patch dolls in the 80’s.
I have a blue Orp, blue Ameracauna and a Salmon Faverolle on order from Meyer. The blues might be splash or black~ either is fine! As you can tell - I like my chickens fluffy!!

I noticed an earlier post about Welbars? Those are new to me- are they docile and/or friendly?

Brand new to the chicken world, lost all but one over the winter and now back up to 3. one sweedish black chicken and two brown chickens that I dont know what species they are. Haven't gotten any eggs yet which doesn't surprise me since the previous owners did not take good care of the chickens over the winter which is why I stepped in. How long should I expect before seeing eggs now that they are well fed/watered and have a decent size area to roam around?

Also has anyone used a rain catching system to feed a water bucket for the chickens?
