Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

I'm curious -- can you explain what a livestock swap is like? How do people "swap" things? Is it formalized in some way? I have never been to one, and it sounds kind of fun. I won't be at that one, however, since it is on the other side of PA.

They're always a lot of fun. Most people just set up and sell but you can swap if you want. It's basically a "craft fair" with poultry/ farm animals.

The first swap of the year, last year....Before tractor supply decided we couldn't do it there anymore due to covid. We've been finding other places to hold it ever since.

Hey all, just found the Pennsylvania thread and thought I'd drop by :frow

I'm in the Southeast, New Hope area if you're familiar with it. I started with 4 fertile eggs and that clearly wasn't enough so we keep adding chickens 😅 I just got another 7 from the Agway last week.

Welcome from center county! What chickens do you have? They are very fun for sure! Beware of the enablers here! We are good at helping to add more birds to your flock:gig

Hi, thought I should introduce myself, instead of just lurking on the thread. I'm from NW PA. Started our flock of chickens 8 years ago with straight run hatchery SLW. 24 hens and 1 roo (double mistake?) Birds ever since seem to hatch 3:1 males: females. Current flock of 40 has SLW, Delaware, barred rock, EE, Silkies, Rhode Island White (hatchery. Grade) Leghorn, barred red auction buy on avitar....and barnyard mixes from our own hatching. We also have 10 ducks -khaki, runners and Muskovies. 15 more of different duck breeds arriving in May. No enablers needed as we are great at chicken math without additional help.
